To ensure services can be delivered in a way that is both safe for City Hall staff and customers, a number of protocols have been developed for safe interactions, including:

  • Masks are required upon entry to the facility
  • Mandatory handwashing or appropriate application of hand sanitizer BEFORE proceeding to service counters;
  • The presence of Plexiglas shields at all public service counters;
  • Extra cleaning of commonly-touched surfaces;
  • ‘Health Check’ verbal questionnaire for any visitor proceeding past established front counters.

 


 

Civic Services Complex (900 Richmond Avenue East) - Public Access to Some In-Person Services Available

Individuals attending to the City of Brandon Civic Services Complex are asked to respect all signage, directional markers and the Plexiglas barrier that have been put in place for the safety of all. Visitors must make use of the hand sanitizer available in the building’s front entrance prior to engaging with customer service staff. Please note that hours of public access at the Civic Services Complex are currently 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

All public works-related inquiries can be directed to 204-729-2285 or submitted via the City of Brandon’s Report an Issue to Public Works Web Form. Shipping and receiving procedures with suppliers will continue without disruption, with safe physical distancing practices being asked of all involved.

 


 

A.R. McDiarmid Civic Complex (638 Princess Avenue) - Open to the Public

City of Brandon Development Services has re-established public access to the A.R. McDiarmid Civic Complex (638 Princess Avenue) via the west facing entrance, marked as “Door D”.  The south entrance to the building used by Community Development, “Entrance C” will remain closed to the public.

Members of the public are required to wear a mask and sanitize their hands once inside the facility.  They will also be asked to respect the lobby’s maximum capacity of five (5) persons at any one time and be prepared to wait in a queue on the sidewalk for the lobby to clear prior to entering the building for services.  Signage, directional floor markers, and Plexiglas barriers have been installed for the safety of all. 

Residents or developers wishing to visit the A.R. McDiarmid Civic Complex are strongly encouraged to call ahead to discuss their projects with staff, or pre-book an appointment for such services prior to attending to the facility.  Appointments can be arranged by calling the Development Services customer service counter at 204-729-2214, which will take care of directing enquiries/appointment requests to the appropriate staff.

Parks & Recreation Services - Public Access To Some In-Person Services Available

The Brandon Community Sportsplex is open to members of the public that can prove that they are fully vaccinated, can show a medical reason for not being vaccinated, or 18 years of age or younger. Questions about programming, payment methods, or customer account information should be directed to the Sportsplex Front Desk staff by calling 204-729-2471 or by emailing sportsplex@brandon.ca

The Brandon Youth Centre is open for ages 8 – 17. Registration is required. For registration forms, and more information, please visit https://www.brandon.ca/youth-centre, or call 204-729-2516.

Brandon Fire & Emergency Services/Provincial E-911 Dispatch Centre (Fire Hall No. 1 – 120-19th Street North & Fire Hall No.2 – 1301-13th Street)

As of Monday, March 15th, 2021, Brandon Fire Hall No.1 (120-19th Street North) will re-open to public access. Brandon Fire Hall No. 2 (1301-13th Street) will remain closed to the public at this time. 

Members of the public who wish to attend Fire Hall No. 1 for walk-in services will be required to wear a mask and sanitize their hands once inside the facility.  They must also adhere to the signage and directional floor markers.  Plexiglas barriers have been installed for the safety of all. 

As an added precaution, Brandon Fire & Emergency Services is not currently offering public tours of the facilities and car seat inspection services have also been suspended at this time. More information about Brandon Fire & Emergency Services can be found at brandon.ca/fire

Meanwhile, the Provincial E-9-1-1 Dispatch Centre operated out of the No.1 Fire Hall continues to be staffed 24-7 and provide vital emergency call-taking services for Manitoba residents outside the City of Winnipeg. The City of Brandon wishes to stress that 9-1-1 is for police, fire or medical emergencies when immediate action is required: someone’s health, safety or property is in jeopardy or a crime is in progress. Please use 9-1-1 responsibly. 

 


 

Municipal Water Treatment Plant (108-26th Street North) - Closed to the Public

The City of Brandon Municipal Water treatment facility is closed to all public visitors; however, questions can be directed to 204-729-2274. Water production continues unimpeded for all purposes, including potable water for customers, for the bulk water dispensing station, and for fire protection services. As maintaining an uninterrupted supply of safe, potable water for the community is of utmost importance, a plan has been developed if the need arises to sequester water production staff safely in the facility and will be enacted if necessary.

 


 

Eastview Landfill (765-33rd Street East)

The Eastview Landfill Administration Building is closed to the public; however, questions may still be directed to 204-729-2281, and public access to the landfill remains open. There are no changes to the residential sanitation collection schedule. 

 


 

Brandon Transit (21-8th Street)

Brandon Transit services continue to operate on a regular schedule.

Brandon Police Services (1020 Victoria Avenue)

Limited public access to the Brandon Police Service building has been implemented. The public is encouraged to continue making reports and inquiries by telephone at 204-729-2345 or by email at policefrontdesk@brandon.ca.

Any members of the public attending to the Police Service Building for an essential service will be asked a number of health screening questions prior to being allowed entry into the building. Walk-in service for criminal record checks has been discontinued until further notice. Inquiries about criminal record checks may be made by phoning 204-729-2311 during normal business hours. The Brandon Police Service is committed to continuing to provide essential protective services for the citizens of Brandon.

 


 

Brandon Municipal Airport (405 Agnew Drive)

The Brandon Municipal Airport remains open for public operations; however, the City of Brandon would encourage all travellers to verify their flight's information directly with WestJet PRIOR to attending to the Brandon Municipal Airport, as flight scheduling changes may have occurred.
