Councillor Glen Parker
Glen and his wife Shannon have lived in Brandon virtually all of their lives. Their two adult sons, daughter-in-law and two granddaughters also live in Brandon.
Glen currently works as an Advancement Officer – Major Gifts at Assiniboine Community College after retiring from The Brandon Sun in 2020.
Ward 9 is where Glen spent much of his youth and a good portion of his adult life. He and Shannon shared two homes in the Ward and are currently volunteer board members of the East End Community Centre.
First elected in a May 2016 by-election, Glen was re-elected in a general election in 2018 and acclaimed in 2022. He is currently serving as Deputy Mayor and sits on the following boards;
- Keystone Centre
- Western Manitoba Centennial Auditorium
- Audit & Finance Committee
- Building Standards and By-law Compliance Committee
Other Community Involvement;
- Currently coaches a U7 Female hockey team for Hockey Brandon
- Has a lead role in The First Shift hockey program
- Served as president of Hockey Brandon for 17 years
- Hockey Brandon board member for 24 years
- Chaired the Father Son Golf Tournament for 24 years
- Served as VP of Manitoba AAA U18 league
- Hockey Manitoba director for 20 years
- Volunteered for Crime Stoppers, Big Brothers, Canadian Cancer, Heart & Stroke and Alzheimer’s Society.
