City of Brandon's Environmental School Programs

The Environment Team for the City of Brandon offers several immersive experiences to connect your classroom with important environmental themes like waste reduction, tree planting and learning from local experts at a annual Enviro Expo.

We have received great feedback about our programs after a teacher survey in 2024, and will be solidifying our offer for schools in winter 2025.

Landfill and Recycling Centre Tour
June to October

Find out what happens to your waste. Tour the landfill in your own bus, with a tour guide. Then go inside, learn about recycling and see the depot in action.

Monday to Friday 10:30AM or 2:30PM - 1.5 hours

Meet at the Eastview Landfill.

Tree Planting Program
May to September

Parks staff teach students how to plant a tree. Students participate and schools receive several free trees and care for the first three months.

Monday to Friday (Within school hours) - 1 hour

Month-long Waste Reduction Challenge
October 2025

Your classroom will investigate just how much waste they create, with the Environment Team's help. You'll learn about all the different places your waste can end up and how to best prevent it all from ending up in the landfill! Learn what you can do to positively impact our planets health instead in the classroom and at home.

Sign up in September to participate through October
