The Eastview Landfill has a location to properly dispose of contaminated soil.

An analytical report of the soil in question must be submitted to solidwaste@brandon.ca prior to requesting a permit. It will be determined at that time if the impacted soil can be brought to the Eastview Landfill. An email will be sent advising the acceptance of the contaminated soil, at which point a permit may be taken out by calling the Solid Waste Section.

Permit requirements: As a contractor, a permit must be taken out at least 48 hours prior to the disposal of contaminated soil. This permit is valid for 1 day (Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.), and if not used on the day requested charges may occur.

Contaminated Soil Permit

  • Analytical report must be submitted via email solidwaste@brandon.ca or via Fax 204-729-2136 and accepted prior to receiving permit for contaminated soil.
  • Give 48 hours’ notice to the Eastview Landfill (to allow the Landfill time to prepare the area).
  • Under special circumstances, the delivery of the contaminated soil could be sooner than 48 hrs if approved by the Lead-hand/Supervisor.
  • All vehicles must have proper placards (WHMIS Standards).
  • Employers must provide suitable protective clothing, respiratory equipment and training for workers who are involved in collecting, transporting or disposing of the contaminated soil.
  • Contractors must obey Workplace Health and Safety guidelines to handling of contaminated soil.
  • Contactors must follow the City of Brandon guidelines to handling of contaminated soil.
  • Entry to the Eastview Landfill is at the Contractors' own risk (please obey all signs and instructions).
  • If the Contractors' vehicle requires a tow, a waiver form must be signed.
  • If guidelines stated above are not followed, rejection of the contractors' privileges will be enforced until the guidelines are followed.

Asbestos Disposal

The Eastview Landfill has a location to properly dispose of asbestos.

As a contractor, a permit must be taken out at least 48 hours prior to the disposal of asbestos. This permit is valid for 1 day (Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.), and if not used on the day requested charges may occur. No refunds for unused permits will be given. All asbestos MUST be placed in identifiable YELLOW bags and then hauled in enclosed vehicles (if hauling in an open trailer then enclosed with a tarp). When the waste is being disposed of, ensure it is in a way that the bags or containers are not broken. All personnel disposing of asbestos must wear proper safety equipment.
