The City of Brandon is working with Jacobs Engineering Group to design an expansion and upgrade to the existing Water Treatment Facility to provide safe, high quality drinking water that accommodates current and future regulatory requirements and growth, while maintaining practical and reliable operations.
The Water Treatment Facility Upgrade Project will include several construction projects over the next several years. The first phase of the project will begin this year with the construction of a chemical building to the immediate west of the existing water treatment plant located at 108-26th Street. This dedicated building will be used to safely store and handle all chemicals used to treat the municipal water supply, eliminating the needs for on-site chlorine gas storage, and will provide capacity to explore lead-leaching reduction strategies to benefit older areas of Brandon where water service connections made of lead may still exist. Future phases of the project include the construction of a new membrane treatment facility, a new river intake, and upgrades to existing portions of the current treatment facility.
