Warrant

On the afternoon of 2023-11-19, police conducted a pedestrian stop in the 1000 block of Van Horne Avenue with an individual known to have a warrant.  A search incident to arrest resulted in locating a knife.  The 30-year-old male has been lodged at BPS to appear for court 2023-11-20.

FTC Release Order

On the afternoon of 2023-11-19, police received a report of a male acting suspiciously near the 1800 block of Park Avenue.  The 29-year-old male was identified from a prior investigation as failing to comply with his release order when he attended to a business on two separate occasions.  The male has been lodged at BPS to appear for court 2023-11-20.

FTC Probation

On the evening of 2023-11-19, police attended to an establishment in the 100 block of 5th Street for a male causing a disturbance.  The 33-year-old was identified from a prior investigation as failing to comply with his probation as he attended to a business contrary to a condition of his probation.

Possession Weapon

On the evening of 2023-11-19, police attended to a business in the 900 block of Victoria Avenue as a male was causing a disturbance while in possession of a kitchen knife.  A 45-year-old was arrested and found possess two large kitchen knives in his back pocket.  A check of police records also revealed that the accused is to not attend the business which he was present.  A search incident to arrest further recovered watches and other jewelry which the male had stolen from the business.  The male has been lodged at BPS to appear for court 2023-11-19 for the charges of Possession of a Weapon, Theft Under $5000 and Failure to Comply with Probation.

Possession of Property Obtained by Crime

On 2022-11-06, police entered into an investigation of motor vehicle theft.  Upon the recovery of the SUV, a forensic analysis of DNA from within the vehicle resulted in identifying a 36-year-old male as being unlawfully in possession of the vehicle.  On 2023-11-19, police attended to BCC where the suspect was in custody on unrelated charges.  The male is to appear for court 2023-11-20 for the charge of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.

Break and Enter/ Arson with Disregard for Human Life

On 2023-11-20 at 0320 hrs, police received a report from an employee that someone had broken into the building at 114 12th ST through the front door.  At the time of the call, the employee stated that the fire alarm was sounding and that they could smell smoke from one of the offices which they were hiding. Police entered the building as it was filling up with smoke and located a 33-year-old male who broke in by smashing the front glass door and starting the fire. The employee and five apartments within the same building with more than 10 occupants were evacuated by police.  Shortly after, the building became fully engulfed with flames.  The buisiness is believed to be a complete loss and the area remains cordoned off while BFES continues to monitor for possible flair ups.  The suspect has been lodged at BPS to appear in court 2023-11-20 for the charges of Break and Enter, and Arson with Disregard for Human Life.
