Brandon Police Service Media Release for the Past 24 Hours.

Possession of Heroin:

At approximately 1:00 A.M., Police conducted a traffic stop in the 1100 block of Highland Avenue. The vehicle was occupied by two females and a male. Police were aware that the male and one of the females were bound by a Release Order to not have any contact or communication with each other. These individuals were arrested and taken into custody. During the course of the traffic stop, Police located a small amount of Heroin within the vehicle. A 40-year-old male from Brandon and 43-year-old female from Brandon were arrested for Failing to Comply with a Release Order and Possession of Heroin. A 26-year-old female from Dauphin was arrested for Possession of Heroin. All three individuals were released from Police custody and are scheduled to appear in Court in September.

Break, Enter & Theft, Assault on Police Officer:

On Sunday morning at approximately 3:50 A.M., a homeowner from a North Hill residence reported that her husband just caught a male who had broken into their garage. Police attended and the suspect kicked one of the Officers as he was being taken into custody. The Police Officer was not injured. Continued investigation determined that the suspect had actually broken into the garage earlier in the night stealing two bicycles, a lap top computer and a bar fridge. The suspect hid some items nearby while returning others to his residence. Once at his residence, the suspect realized that he lost his keys and could not gain entrance to his apartment building. The suspect used a rock to smash the front glass door of the complex but still did not have keys to access his apartment. The suspect then returned to the garage that he broke into earlier in search of his lost keys and at this time was apprehended by the homeowner.  The suspect was intoxicated and in breach of two conditions of an Undertaking. The 20 year old male from Brandon was arrested for Break, Enter and Theft, Fail to comply with Undertaking X2, Mischief to Property Under $5000 and Assault Peace Officer. The suspect was lodged at the Police Service and will be released when sober with a Court date in September.

Other Arrests:

  • One individual was detained at the Police Service under the Intoxicated Person Detention Act to be released once sober.
  • Three individuals were arrested for Breach of the Peace and lodged at the Police Service to be released once sober.
