Brandon Police Service Media Release for the Past 24 Hours.

Domestic Assault:

On Friday evening, Police received a report that a male was assaulting a female by punching and kicking her while in a back alley of a west end residential area. Officers located the male suspect. He was arrested for assault and a Police record check revealed that he is bound by a Release Order to not have contact or communication with the female victim. The male was also found to have an outstanding Warrant of Arrest for Possession of Property Obtained by Crime. The 36-year-old male suspect from Brandon is being held in custody pending a Court appearance later today. The female victim did not receive any physical injuries.

 

Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose:

On Friday at approximately 8:45 P.M., a report was received that a male was walking in the area of Kirkaldy Drive waving around a knife and acting in a threatening manner. Officers attended, located the male suspect and recovered the knife. The 37-year-old intoxicated male suspect from Brandon was arrested for Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose. He was held at the Police Service and released once sober. He is scheduled to appear in Court in September.

 

Mischief to Property:

At approximately 2:20 A.M., Police responded to the downtown area after receiving a report of a male walking around with an axe smashing windows. Officers located the suspect in the 800 Block of Rosser Avenue; he was not in possession of an axe but was holding a large stick. Investigation determined that the suspect did break a window in a business on Rosser Avenue. The 32-year-old male from Brandon was arrested for Mischief to Property Under $5000. He was highly intoxicated and held at the Police Service to be released when sober with a Court appearance scheduled in September.

 

Fail to Comply with Conditions of a Recognizance:

At approximately 4:00 A.M., Police stopped a vehicle in 500 Block of Franklin Street. A male occupant of the vehicle was found to be on a Recognizance with a 10:00 P.M. curfew and to not have any contact or communication with another occupant of the vehicle. The 22-year-old male from Brandon was arrested for Breach of Recognizance X2. He was lodged at the Police Service and is scheduled to appear in Court today.

 

Arrest Warrants Executed:

On Friday morning, Police located a male at his residence knowing that he had an outstanding Warrant of Arrest for Breach of Release Order. The 34-year-old man from Brandon was arrested and made a Court appearance on Friday evening.

On Friday morning, Police came upon a highly intoxicated female on 18th Street North. A Police record check of the female found an outstanding Warrant of Arrest for Theft Under $5000. The 37-year-old female from Brandon was arrested, held at the Police Service and released once sober. She is scheduled to appear in Court in September.

On Friday afternoon, Police responded to a disturbance call in the 300 Block of 9th Street. A female was located and found to be part of the disturbance. A Police record check revealed an outstanding Warrant of Arrest for Theft of Motor Vehicle and Theft Under $5000. The 28-year-old female from Brandon was arrested and is scheduled to appear in Court in September.

 

Break and Enter: 

On Friday morning, Police responded to Outback Drive after receiving a report that a storage compound within the Parkade was entered. A suitcase containing various tools was stolen from the storage location. Police investigation continues.
