Brandon Police Service Media Release for the Past 24 Hours.

Theft Under

At 1132 am on Saturday, staff from a store in the 2600 block of Victoria Ave waved down a passing patrol car and reported a shoplifter had just ran out of the store. The suspect, a 27 year old from Brandon, was apprehended nearby with $75 in merchandise. He was released to appear in court in October.

Assault

Shortly after 5:00 pm on Saturday, officers responded to a request for assistance from security at the Town Centre. A male was asked to leave due to disruptive behaviour. He refused to do so and started to fight with security. During the struggle he assaulted two staff members by biting them. He also had a large hunting knife hidden in his clothing. The man was arrested and will appear in court on Sunday on charges of Assault, Assault Causing Bodily Harm and Carrying a Concealed Weapon.

Domestic Assault

A 55 year old man from Brandon was arrested for assault on Saturday evening. A woman reported that her husband grabbed her and forced her out of their residence. The man was held until sober and released to appear in court in August.

Possession of Cocaine and MDMA

On Saturday evening, a 30 year old man from Brandon was arrested for possession of cocaine and MDMA for the purpose of trafficking. He was driving a vehicle that was stopped in the 200 block of 18th St North and found to be in possession of individually packaged drugs. He was released to appear in court in October.

Other Arrests

Two people were lodged under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act.

A female youth was arrested on a warrant and released for court in October.

A 20 year old man from Brandon was arrested on a warrant for Sexual Assault. He was released to appear in court in October.

A 33 year old Brandon woman was arrested on a warrant for Theft Under $5000. She was released to appear in court in September.

A 32 year old Brandon man was arrested for breaching a curfew condition of a court order. He was released to appear in court in October.

A 23 year old man from Island Lake was arrested for breaching conditions of a release order. He will appear in court on Sunday.
