Brandon Police Service Media Release for the Past 24 Hours.

Stabbing

Shortly before midnight on Thursday, a female victim reported she was stabbed outside of a downtown hotel. The victim returned home and realized she was stabbed twice in the abdomen. She was transported to BRHC for treatment of the injuries which do not appear life threatening. The investigating officer viewed surveillance video which shows the suspect stabbing the victim twice in the parking lot of the hotel. The suspect has been identified and a warrant for her will be issued on Friday.

Aggravated Assault

A 28 year old Brandon woman was arrested for Aggravated Assault on Thursday evening. Officers were called to a hotel on Pacific Ave after an assault was reported. The male victim was transported to BRHC for treatment of head injuries. Surveillance video showed the suspect knocking the victim to the ground and repeatedly kicking him in the head until he was unconscious. The accused was located nearby and arrested. She will appear in court on Friday morning. The victim remains in hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Possession of a Weapon, Theft, Trespass by Night

Around 1:00 am on Friday, officers responded to the area of Franklin St and Louise Ave East after a man and woman were observed stealing items from yards. Two suspects matching the description were located and arrested.   The man, a 32 year old from Brandon, had a stolen lawn ornament and a can of bear spray in his possession. He was arrested for Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, Theft under $5000 and Trespass by Night. He will appear in court on Friday morning. A 42 year old woman from Brandon was arrested for Theft under $5000 and Trespass by Night. She was released to appear in court in October.

Assault

On Thursday morning, a woman reported she was assaulted by her boyfriend at a residence on 11th St North. The victim was pushed and grabbed by the accused. A 33 year old man from Brandon was arrested and released for court in October.

Break and Enters

A break in was reported to a compound and machine shop at the Wheat City Golf Course. Staff discovered the lock on the gated compound cut off on Thursday morning. A set of 40 wrenches was stolen inside the machine shop. A utility vehicle and a golf cart were damaged as well. The suspects forced open the golf cart shed and searched through several golf carts.

A garage in the 3200 block of McDonald Ave was entered overnight on Thursday. A Hard Rock mountain bike was stolen.

Other Arrests

Five people were lodged for Breach of Peace or under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act.

Three people were arrested on arrest warrants.
