Brandon Police Service Media Release for the Past 24 Hours.

 

Garage Break and Enter Arrest:

The Brandon Police Service Major Crime Unit entered into an investigation after learning an individual was selling numerous power tools on a social media site. The suspect was identified as a 17-year-old male. On Wednesday afternoon, investigators located the youth at his residence after learning that he had an outstanding Warrant of Arrest for Breach of Probation. A Search Warrant was executed which led to the recovery of a number of power tools, lawn equipment, cash and a bicycle. It was determined that the tools, lawn equipment and bicycle were stolen from three different Break-ins that occurred in the 300 Block of 16th Street in the last month. The search of the residence further recovered a number of pellet pistols and rifles with the suspect bound by an order to not possess any firearms. The youth was arrested for; Break and Enter X2, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime X3 and Possession of Firearms contrary to a Prohibition Order. He was released from Police custody and is scheduled to appear in Court in October.  

 

Break and Enter Arrest:

On Wednesday night, Police received a report of individuals using baseball bats to break into a suite at a downtown apartment building. Officers attended, found the apartment door forced open with a 22-year-old male suspect and 48-year-old female suspect inside. Both suspects were arrested for Break and Enter and later released from Police custody to attend Court in September.

 

Home Invasion:

At approximately 5:00 A.M., Police responded to a residence in the east end of the city after receiving a report that three suspects entered into the home and threatened the male resident. One suspect brandished a knife, another suspect had a can of bear spray with the third suspect holding what appeared to the resident to be a handgun. The first suspect is described as being a young male with long dark colored hair. The second suspect is described as a young male wearing a white jacket and the third suspect is described as heavyset female with orange colored hair. The suspects fled the residence after taking a cell phone and medication. The victim was not injured and the Police investigation continues.

 

Arrest Warrants Executed:

On Wednesday afternoon, Police arrested a 63-year-old Brandon man knowing he had an outstanding Endorsed Warrant of Arrest for Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Flight from Police. The man was released and is scheduled to appear in Court in September.

On Wednesday evening, Police attended a disturbance in the 600 Block of Pacific Avenue. A 30-year-old man was located and found to be part of the disturbance. A Police record check revealed an outstanding Endorsed Warrant of Arrest for Fail to Attend Court. The man was arrested and released; he is scheduled to appear in Court in November.

On Wednesday night while investigating a Break and Enter, Police had opportunity to speak to an 18-year-old man from Brandon. A Police record check discovered two outstanding Warrants of Arrest for Theft Under $5000 X6 and Trespass at Night X6. The man was arrested and released; he is scheduled to appear in Court in September.

 

Possession of a Weapon:

On Wednesday afternoon, Police responded to the downtown area of the city after receiving a report of a highly intoxicated female sitting on the sidewalk and being belligerent to others in the area. Officers located the female in the 700 Block of Rosser Avenue. She was intoxicated and uncooperative. After taken into custody, Officers discovered a machete located on her person. The 27-year-old female was arrested for Possession of a Weapon and Carry a Concealed Weapon.  She was lodged at the Police Service and released once sober to attend Court in September.

 

Other Arrests: 

  • One individual was arrested for Breach of the Peace and lodged at the Police Service to be released once sober.
