Stolen Vehicle

In the early morning hours of 2020-01-24, a 2001 grey Chevrolet Silverado 2500 Crew Cab truck was taken from a hotel parking lot on 18th St North. The owner had started the vehicle to warm it up, and returned inside. The thief then struck two other vehicles with the truck before fleeing the scene. Police are still searching for this truck, which has a Manitoba licence plate of CEE 373.

Assault

On January 24th, Police arrested a 43 year old male from Brandon for Assault and Assault with a Weapon after an investigation revealed that he had been striking his children while disciplining them. The children suffered minor injuries as a result of the assaults. The male will appear in court on March 20, 2020.

Breach of Release Order.

On January 23rd, staff attended a residence in the 100 block of 5th St for an alarm and report of smoke inside. The workers located drug paraphernalia and a .177calibre Air rifle under the suspects bed. The 18 year old male resident was currently bound by a release order with a condition to not possess Weapons. He was located on January 24th, arrested and lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center.

Possession of a weapon

In the evening of January 24th, while searching the area of the 400 block of 5th St for suspects involved in an assault, police located two highly intoxicated youth males. One of these males was found to be in possession of Bear Spray. He was arrested and lodged at Brandon Correctional Center to be released when sober, for court on February 18, 2020. The second youth male was also lodged at Brandon Correctional Center until sober.

Fail to Comply with Undertaking

On January 24th at approximately 21:30 while conducting a traffic stop in the 700 block of 10th street, police learned that one of the occupants was bound by an Undertaking not to attend the City of Brandon. The 31 year old male was arrested and then found to be in possession of a folding knife, contrary to the condition that he is not to possess any weapons. He was lodged at the Brandon Correctional center for court in the morning.

Impaired Driving

On January 24th at approximately 22:30, police received a report of a silver car striking a hydro pole near MAZER Implements, on Currie BLVD. Police attended the scene and located the driver who was bleeding and appeared intoxicated. He refused medical attention from BFD and was arrested. The 27 year old male was brought to BPS where breath samples four times the legal limit were obtained. The male was lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center to be released once sober, for court on February 6th.
