Disturbance

At 9:45 a.m. yesterday, police and fire attended to the 3400 block of Victoria Avenue where a lone male had threatened to shoot members of the Brandon Fire and Emergency Service who had attended to that location on another matter.  The 38-year-old male from Brandon surrendered to police on their arrival, and was lodged in cells at BPS to for release later in the day. He was high on meth, no firearm was found on scene, and no charges were laid in this matter.  

Disturbance

At 3:20 p.m. yesterday, a 21-year-old male from Winnipeg was creating a disturbance at a downtown service agency. The male attempted to climb over the counter and assault a female staff member working there. He was restrained by on site security and police were called.  After a psychiatric assessment at BRHC, it was found that the male required further supports and no charges will be laid in this matter.

Possess Break in Tools

At 2:55 a.m. today, a 35-year-old male from Brandon was arrested in the 100 block of 10^th Street, as he is known by police to be on a court ordered curfew. During the search of his person subsequent to arrest, a crowbar was found concealed in the male’s clothing. He is in custody and will appear before a Justice today, facing charges of breach of undertaking and possession of a break in instrument.

Other Arrests

• A 42-year-old male from Brandon taken into custody at his residence yesterday at 2:30 p.m. on an outstanding warrant of arrest from 2020. He was held in custody and will appear before a Justice today on charges of failing to appear in court and possession of controlled substance for trafficking.
• A 27-year-old male from Birdtail First Nation was taken into custody yesterday at 4 p.m. during a traffic stop in the 1100 block of Victoria Avenue. He was held in custody and will appear before a Justice today on charges of assault, uttering threats to cause death, and possession of a dangerous weapon. These charges stem from a domestic disturbance in December of 2020 in Brandon.
• A 27-year-old female from Brandon was checked at 8:45 p.m. yesterday in the 1000 block of Brandon Avenue, as she appeared to be in need of assistance. She was found to be intoxicated, and was held in cells at BPS for release later when sober.
• A 39-year-old male of no fixed address was taken into custody at 10:50 p.m., when he was located at a residence in the 600 block of Van Horne Avenue. The male is on a curfew and is to reside at another location other than where he was located. He was taken into custody and will appear before a Justice, and is facing a charge of breach of an undertaking.
• A 26 year old male and 34 year old male, both from Brandon, were checked by police in separate matters overnight and both were found to be outside of their residence beyond a court ordered curfew. Both males were released to appear in court in April, and each face of charge of failure to comply with a release order.
• A 36-year-old female from Brandon known to be wanted by police was taken into custody at 1:35 a.m. today in the 2100 block of Rosser Avenue. She was held in custody and will appear before a Justice, facing four counts of failure to appear in court, and two counts of theft under $5,000.
• A 30-year-old male from Brandon is in custody and will appear before a Justice today, after officers attended a domestic disturbance at an apartment in the downtown area at 3:35 a.m. He is on a court order to abstain from alcohol when in the company of his girlfriend because of a previous domestic assault against her. As the male had consumed alcohol, he was held in cells overnight, and will appear before a Justice today facing a charge of breach of a release order. The female had not been assaulted, and no other charges have been laid.
