On Monday afternoon, police attended a disturbance in the 800 block of 17th Street and discovered a 31-year-old Brandon male had caused damage to a vehicle by hitting it with a steel bar. The male was arrested for mischief under $5000.00 and released from custody. He will appear in court in October.

 

Theft

On Monday evening, police attended a north-end retail store for a complaint of a theft. A 22-year-old male from Brandon left the store with approximately $80.00 worth of merchandise without paying for it. The male fled the area on a bicycle but was located a short distance away by the responding officers. He was arrested and released and will appear in court in August.

 

Possession of a Weapon

On Monday evening, police attended a downtown park for a complaint that a male was present and threatening people with a knife. The male then attended a residence on Rosser Avenue East where he again confronted a group of people with the knife a stole a Bluetooth speaker. The 37-year-old Brandon male was located a short distance away and arrested without incident. He was charged with possession of a weapon and theft under $5000.00. The male was held in custody for court in the morning.

 

Warrant Executed

On Monday evening, police attended a disturbance in the 1200 block of 20th street as a neighbor could hear someone screaming. Police located a 41-year-old Brandon male wanted on several warrants for sexual assault, fraudulent use of a credit card and failing to comply with a release order. The male was arrested and held for court in the morning.

 

Assault

At approximately 10 pm, Monday evening, police observed a male in the 700 block of 8th Street. The officers were aware that the 26-year-old male was wanted by police in connection with a domestic assault from July 4th 2020. The male was also in the company of a female with whom he is to have no contact or communication as well as being out past his court ordered curfew. The male was arrested and charged with assault and two counts of failing to comply with a release order. He was held in custody for court in the morning.

 

Impaired Driver

At 0343 hours, Tuesday morning, police stopped a vehicle in the 1000 block of Van Horne Avenue. The female driver showed signs of impairment and failed the roadside screening device. Further, the female initially lied about her identity, is on a curfew, and is not residing as directed by the courts. She was also found in possession of a small amount of cocaine. The female is charged with impaired driving, driving over 80 mg%, public mischief, possess a controlled substance, four counts of failing to comply with a release order and one count of failing to comply with probation. She was held in custody for court later in the morning.
