Assault PO

On Friday morning, Brandon Police attended a disturbance in the east end. The male causing the disturbance assaulted one of the officers by punching him in the head. The 32-year-old Brandon male was arrested and charged with Assaulting a Police Officer and was released from custody. He will appear in court in September.

On Friday morning, Brandon Police received a complaint that an inmate assaulted a Corrections Officer, at the Brandon Correctional Center. The officer was punched in the face causing bruising. The 22-year-old inmate was arrested and charged with Assaulting a Peace Officer and will appear in court in the morning.

 

Break and Enter

On Friday afternoon, the resident of a house in the 500 block of 5th Street reported that his garage was broken in to overnight. Stolen was two bicycles and a circular saw. Police are continuing to investigate.

Early on Saturday morning, the resident of a house in the 200 block of Lorne Avenue reported his garage was broken in to. Two males fled the area when the homeowner discovered them, inside the garage. The males were not apprehended and the investigation is continuing.

 

Arson

At 0330 hours, Brandon Police and Brandon Fire Department attended a structure fire in the 300 block of Percy Street. On arrival, a Ford F-150 was found fully engulfed in the driveway with some damage to the residence. The fire was extinguished with some damage to the residence; however, the vehicle was destroyed. A 41-year-old male located at the scene was arrested and has been charged with Arson with Disregard for Human Life and Arson causing damage to Property. He will appear in court in the morning.

 

Warrant Executed

On Saturday evening, police were called to the 900 block of Princess Avenue for a group of people drinking alcohol in public. One of the persons present, a 37-year-old Brandon female, was discovered to be wanted by police for Failing to Appear for Fingerprints. She was arrested and released for court in September.

 

Theft

On Saturday evening, a 37-year-old female from Virden purchased several small items from a north end business but failed to pay for a Dyson vacuum, exiting the store with all of the items. The Loss Prevention Officer at the scene apprehended her. The accused provided a receipt for the goods, which had been altered. She was subsequently arrested by police and released for court in August.
