Weapons Offences

On Thursday morning, a witness reported a male and female walked away from a vehicle that they left in the traffic circle at 34th Street and Willowdale Drive. Both were arrested near the scene. Once located by police, the 37-year-old male was found in possession of a concealed weapon and the 24-year old female was discovered to be on a court order to have no contact with the male. The male is charged with possession of a dangerous weapon, carry a concealed weapon and uttering threats. He was released and will appear in court in September. The female was charged with failing to comply with the conditions of her undertaking and was held in custody for court.

On Thursday morning, police attended a north end business after an employee called to report there was a male present at the store that was banned. Police located the male walking away from the store and when approached, the male produced a knife and threw it in an attempt to discard it. The 26-year-old Brandon male was arrested and charged with possess a dangerous weapon, resist arrest, and failing to comply with the conditions of both an undertaking and probation order. The male was held in custody for court in the morning.

 

Warrants Executed

On Thursday afternoon, Brandon Police Service members attended the Brandon Correctional Center and arrested a male in custody on the strength of an RCMP warrant of arrest for breach of probation. The male remains in custody and will appear in court in the morning.

Also on Thursday afternoon, while at an unrelated call, a 37-year-old male from Brandon was checked and discovered to have an endorsed warrant for fraudulent use of a credit card. The male was arrested and released and will appear in court in September.

 

Break and Enter

On Thursday morning, the resident of a house in the north end reported that she had been broken in to sometime overnight and her computer was stolen. Police are continuing to investigate.

 

Impaired Driver

Early Thursday evening, police attended an accident on 18th Street North where a vehicle had been rear-ended. The driver showed signs of impairment and was returned to BPS where he provided samples of his breath at three times the legal limit. He was released from custody to a sober adult, charged with impaired driving and driving over 80 mg and will appear in court later in June.

 

Theft / Breach of Court Order

At 4:00 am, Friday morning, three persons were located in a taxi cab that was stopped by police in the 1000 block of Rosser Avenue. A 34-year-old Brandon male was arrested on the strength of two BPS endorsed warrants for theft and breach of probation. He was released for court in September. A 26-year-old Brandon female was arrested and released for violating her court ordered curfew. She will appear in court in August. The third occupant, a 38-year-old Brandon female, was arrested for a theft in late May, where she stole a briefcase from a south end business. She was also released from custody and will appear in court in August.
