Weapon Charges

On November 28, 2023, police conducted a traffic stop in the 1600 block of 26th street.  Police observed a machete in the spot where a 34-year-old male was sitting.  He attempted to flee to evade arrest but was apprehended.  He was also found carrying two more machetes contrary to a Release Order.  He was to abide by a 24-hour curfew at a Winnipeg Address. 

Following his arrest, police conducted a further search of the vehicle and seized a set of brass knuckles and a canister of bear mace. Two other individuals were also arrested.

The 34-year-old male was lodged at Brandon Police Service and will appear in court today on charges of Possess Weapon X3, Fail to Comply with Release Order X5, and Resist Arrest.

A 24-year-old male was arrested and later released to appear in court on January 22, 2024, on charges of Unauthorized Possession of Prohibited Weapon, Possess Weapon Contrary to Order and Fail to Attend Court.

A 22-year-old female was arrested and later released to appear in court on January 22, 2024, on charges of Possess Weapon Dangerous.

 

Sexual Interference

On November 29, 2023, shortly before 2:00 am, police responded to a report of a sexual assault of a 10-year-old female at a residence.  Police arrested a 52-year-old male at the scene, who was a friend of the victim’s mother, as he had allegedly touched the girl inappropriately. 

The suspect was later released and will appear in court on February 1, 2024, on charges of Sexual Assault and Sexual Interference.

 

Impaired Driving – Take Motor Vehicle without Consent

On November 28, 2023, shortly before 10:00 pm, police responded to a report of an erratic driver near the 900 block of 18th street N.  The driver was involved in a collision with another vehicle, before driving off, and driving over meridians.  There were no reported injuries following the collision.

A witness led police to where the driver had parked his vehicle on Lark Street where police located and arrested the 31-year-old male driver.  Further investigation revealed that he had gone into his girlfriend’s apartment without her consent and taken the keys to her vehicle without her knowledge.

He provided samples of his breath that were more than the legal limit.  He was lodged at Brandon Police Service to be released once sober on charges of Driving While Ability Impaired, Driving with More Than 80 mgs of Alcohol in Blood, Break and Enter and Take Motor Vehicle Without Consent.

 

Sexual Assault

On September 12, 2023, police received a report of a sexual assault which occurred at a workplace.  A 24-year-old male allegedly touched an adult female coworker for a sexual purpose without her consent.  Following an investigation into the matter police located and arrested the male suspect on November 28, 2023.  He was later released and will appear in court on February 12, 2024, on a charge of Sexual Assault.

 

Domestic Assault

On November 28, 2023, at approximately 3:30 pm, police responded to a report of a fight at a residence.  When police arrived, the individuals both had fresh injuries consistent with being assaulted, but neither would cooperate with police.  Both the 30-year-old female and 31-year-old male were arrested and later released.  They will appear in court on December 28, 2023, on charges of Assault.

 

Break and Enter to Residence

On November 28, 2023, shortly before 10:00 pm, police responded to a report of a break and enter to a residence in the 300 bloc of 13th street.  Several individuals were believed to be inside what was supposed to be a vacant suite; however, it was empty upon police arrival and a search of the area for the suspects was negative. 

The suspects forced their way into the suite through the door and stole a Wi-Fi camera.  Police continue to investigate.

Fail to Comply with Release Order

On November 29, 2023, shortly after midnight, police responded to a report of a disturbance in a residence.  A 33-year-old male who was found to be one of the issues, was also failing to comply with a release condition and arrested.  He was lodged at Brandon Police Service and will appear in court today.

 

Arrest Warrants

On November 28, 2023, police located and arrested a 30-year-old male who was wanted for Fail to Attend Court.  He was lodged and will appear in court today.

On November 28, 2023, police located and arrested a 30-year-old female who was wanted on outstanding charges of Fail to Attend Court.  She was lodged at Brandon Police Service and will appear in court today.

On November 28, 2023, shortly after 3:00 pm, police located an 18-year-old male pedestrian in the 1200 block of 10th street who was wanted on outstanding charges of Fail to Comply with Probation.  Following his arrest, he was released to appear in court.
