Obstruct P. O. / Possess Proceeds of Crime / Fail to Comply – Release Order

At approx. 2:10 PM Saturday, Officers were called to an address in the 100 block of 13th St for a disturbance.  Upon arrival they spoke to a male and female who both indicated they had been arguing, neither disclosed assaultive behaviour. In the course of dealing with the two residents it was noted that the 20 year old male is currently bound by a court order which includes a condition that he must allow police to search his residence.  The condition is as a result of pending charges against the male, and where placed in affect by a Justice as part of his release plan.  When the officers advised they would be exercising the condition and planned to search the apartment. The female became argumentative as then did the male.  Both subjects became physically obstructive and as a result both were placed under arrest. During the search of the residence officers located a quantity of drug packaging material, approximately $9000 in cash, as well as a can of bear spray and a small amount of ammunition. The current release order also prohibits the male from possessing any bear spray or ammunition. The male was held overnight and has since been remanded in custody to appear in Brandon court on May 29.  The 17 year old female was charged with obstructing a Peace Officer and was released shortly after the search.  She will appear in court on July 11.

Theft of Motor Vehicle / Mischief to Property

At approx. 7:25 PM Saturday, officers were called to the 700 block of 19th St.  The caller indicated that she had just observed a male stealing her motorcycle.  The male suspect was seen by the caller pushing the motorcycle from the area.  When the caller ran after the suspect he dropped the bike on its side and continued to run away with the helmet.  Officers located the male in the 600 block of 15th St and arrested him for the theft.  At that point he had already damaged the helmet by breaking the visor off.  He was arrested for theft of motor vehicle, theft under $5000 and mischief to property.   The 44 year old male was previously arrested on May 26, where he damaged a car and armed himself with a hatchet when confronted by Police. He had been granted bail for that incident through the court early on Saturday May 27.  Given the very short duration of time between release and reoffending, the male was remanded into custody this morning and will appear again on May 29.

Warrant Executed

At approx. 10 PM Saturday officers checked a pedestrian in the 3500 block of Victoria Ave.  Initially the 36 year old male provided a false name however police were able to confirm his true identity, which revealed an outstanding warrant of arrest for failing to attend court.  The male was arrested on the strength of the warrant and was held for court later today.

Assault

At approx. 3:40 AM this morning officers were called to the 1500 block of 26th St for an assault.  A female caller reported that she had been assaulted by a 46 year old male. The male was located in the area and arrested.  Due to his intoxicated sate he was held at the Brandon Police Service until sober.  He has since been released with a court date of July 4.
