Impaired Driving

At approx. 11:00 AM Saturday, police were called regarding a possible impaired driver in the area of the 300 block of 6th St.  Members attended to the area, however the vehicle was no longer in the area, nor had it returned to the address of its owner.  A short time later an officer observed the vehicle in the 600 block of 6th St and a stop was initiated.  The driver, a 21-year-old female of Brandon was observed by the officer to be under the influence of alcohol and was therefore arrested for impaired driving.  She provided two samples of her breath, which resulted in readings approx. twice the legal limit.  She was released to a sober friend, and will appear in court on September 7, charged with impaired driving and drive over .08.

 

Arrest Warrant Executed

At approx. 7:35 PM Saturday, police were called to a disturbance in the 300 block of 6th St.  It appeared a male and female were engaged in a verbal altercation.  Members attended and located the two individuals and separated the two. The 45-year-old Male of that address was found to be the subject of an outstanding warrant for 5 counts of failing to comply with a release order.  He was arrested and held at the Brandon Police Service and will appear in court later this morning.

 

Arrest Warrant Executed

At 8:45 PM Saturday, police conducted a traffic stop in the 6 block of Braecrest Dr.  The driver of the vehicle was checked and found to be the subject of an outstanding warrant for 2 counts of failing to comply with his probation.  He was arrested and later released with court date of September 14.

 

Arrest Warrant Executed

At approx. 8:50 PM, officers were conducting a checkstop in the 1800 block of Van Horne Ave when a vehicle drove into the checkpoint with a known male as one of its passengers.  The 48-year-old male from Sioux Valley was found to be the subject of a Virden RCMP warrant for failing to attend court ad a warrant issued by the Manitoba First Nations Police for failing to comply with his probation.  He was arrested and held at the Brandon Police Service over night and will appear in court later today.    

  

Possession of a Prohibited Weapon

At approx. 9:30 PM, officers stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of 8th St and observed the occupants to have open liquor within the cabin of the vehicle.  Through closer observation, they could see a conducted energy weapon on the floor on the passenger Sadie of the vehicle.  The occupants of the vehicle were detained from further investigation and the device was confirmed to be an operational “5000 volt direct current ultra-high voltage CEW”.  The 39-year-old passenger from Brandon indicated to police that he had the weapon for protection.  He was arrested or possession of a prohibited weapon and was later released with a court date of Sept 28.

  

Possession of Stolen Property / Fraud / Use Forged Document

At approx. 9:44 PM, police observed a male walking in the 1300 block of Rosser, which the officer had been looking for as a suspect in a fraud file from early April.   On April 3rd and 4th, the 28-year-old Brandon male had stolen cheques, which were made out to him, and then deposited into his account.  The male was arrested and later released with a court date of September 28.

 

Theft Under $5000

At approx. 10:10 PM, a store in the Corral Centre reported they had apprehended a female that had selected clothes from the sales rack, she then attended to the washroom and put the clothes on and was attempting to leave without paying.  While dealing with the 20-year-old Brandon female, the security staff was assaulted by the female.  She was arrested by police, the clothes recovered and she was later released with a court date of September 24.

 

Parole Revocation

At 10:50 PM police attended to the 2000 block of Queens for a disturbance involving two males.  The first, a 22-year-old Brandon male, was found to be the subject of a curfew, which he was breaching.  He was arrested and later released with a court date of September 21.  The second male, a 21-year-old Brandon man provided a false name to the officers. Once his identity was confirmed he was found to be on parole and in violation of his conditions as he was intoxicated.  He was arrested for parole violation and will be returned to Stoney Mountain Penitentiary later today.

 

Other Arrests:

  • 1 male was arrested and held at the Brandon Police Service for Breach of the Peace.
