Motor Vehicle Pursuit

At 11:55 p.m. Friday, police initiated a vehicle stop in the downtown area after a driver cut off another car. The driver refused to stop and police followed the vehicle through several downtown streets at 50 kmh. The vehicle left the downtown area and police lost sight of it in the east end of the city. A few minutes later, police again observed the suspect vehicle in the downtown area, and the driver again refused to stop for police. Officers terminated the pursuit when the speed reached 80 kmh. The vehicle was last seen in the area of Whillier Drive. Officers flooded the area and located two persons walking not far from where the suspect vehicle was found empty. One of the people, a 44-year-old male from Brandon, was identified as the suspect. He was arrested and released after processing at BPS. The suspect will appear in court in February and is charged with dangerous driving, flight from police, resist arrest, and possession of meth for the purpose of trafficking.

Other Arrests

• At 6:05 a.m. Friday, a 31-year-old female from Brandon was taken into custody in the 500 block of 13^th Street, after calling 911 multiple times for assistance. No emergent situation was found on police arrival, and the intoxicated female was lodged in BPS cells for release later in the day when sober.
• At 11:30 a.m. Friday, a 35-year-old female was taken into custody at the bus shelter downtown. She was intoxicated and yelling at passerby. Police detained the female in BPS cells for release later in the day when sober.
• At 11:45 a.m. Friday, a 44-year-old male from Brandon was taken into custody at his residence in the south end of the city on an outstanding warrant for his arrest. He will appear before a Justice today after being held in cells overnight, on charges of break and enter, possession of property obtained by crime, and possession of break in instruments.  
• At 10:00 p.m. Friday, a taxi driver brought a 48-year-old intoxicated female to the BPS office, as the female was unable to pay her for and the driver was concerned for the female’s state of mind. Police detained the female in cells overnight due to her intoxication. Mental health professionals will assess her this morning in order to determine her suitability for release on her own, or the need for the possible offering or involvement of further mental health supports.
• At 12:25 a.m. today, a 42-year-old male from Winnipeg was arrested in the 3300 block of Victoria Avenue for being outside of his residence contrary to a court imposed curfew. Police released the male to appear in court in Brandon in January. He faces one count of failure to comply with a release order. The male returned to his hotel room after being released to appear in court in January.  
• At 2:00 a.m., a 38 year old intoxicated female was taken into custody while causing a disturbance outside a residence in the downtown area. She was transported to BRHC for medical clearance prior to being lodged in BPS cells, but was found to require observation at hospital due to a previous chronic medical condition. She was left in the care of hospital staff.
• At 4:05 a.m., a 22-year-old Brandon male was taken into custody in the downtown area. A resident in the neighborhood could hear a male and female yelling and swearing at each other somewhere outside their home. Police located the couple and detained the male in BPS cells without charge, he will be released later today once sober.
• At 5:50 a.m., an intoxicated female was found wandering in someone’s yard in the downtown area. The 28-year-old Brandon female was too intoxicated to care for herself, and was held in cells overnight for release later today when sober.
