Brandon Police Service Media Release for the Past 24 Hours.

 

Possession of Methamphetamine:

On Saturday night, Police stopped a vehicle in the 1500 of McTavish Ave and noticed open liquor within. The male driver of the vehicle was arrested and a search incidental to arrest discovered a quantity of methamphetamine on his person. The 30 year old man from Brandon was arrested and released from custody, he is scheduled to appear in Court in January.

 

Possess Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, Assault Police:

In relation to the traffic stop mentioned above, Police also observed a knife near a male passenger of the vehicle. A Criminal Record check of the passenger revealed he is bound by conditions of a Probation Order to not possess any weapons. The intoxicated 17 year old youth was arrested and after taken into Police custody, spit on one of the officers and threatened to shoot him. The youth has been arrested for Fail to comply with conditions of Probation, Possession of a weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, Assault Police and Uttering Threats. He is held in custody and scheduled to appear before the Court later today.

 

Arrest Warrants Executed:

  • At approximately 2:00 A.M., Police responded to a report of a male sleeping in the vestibule of a building on Louise Ave. A Criminal Record check discovered an outstanding Unendorsed Warrant of Arrest for failing to comply with conditions of a Probation Order. The 43 year old man was arrested and lodged at the Police Service. He is scheduled to appear in Court later today.
  • A 17 year old female youth was arrested on Sunday morning after Police discovered she had an outstanding Unendorsed Warrant of Arrest for failing to comply with conditions of a Release Order. She was lodged at the Police Service for a Court appearance later today.

 

Impaired Driving:

At approximately 1:50 A.M. Sunday, Police stopped a vehicle in the 300 Block of 34th ST for driving erratically. The operator of the vehicle displayed signs of impairment by alcohol and refused to comply with a demand to provide breath samples. The 33 year old man from Brandon was arrested for Operation while Impaired and Fail or Refuse to Provide Sample with Demand. He was released from Police custody and is scheduled to appear in Court later this month.

 

Fail to Comply with Release Order:

At approximately 4:30 A.M., Police responded to a disturbance at a residence in the 700 Block of 6th ST. A 28 year old man and 23 year old female were located. A Criminal Record check of the male found that he is on a Release Order with conditions to have no contact or communication with the female and to observe a curfew of 10:00 P.M. to 7:00 A.M. A Criminal Record check of the female revealed that she is on an Undertaking with a condition to have no contact or communication with the male. Both were arrested for their respective breaches. The male was lodged at the Police Service and is scheduled to appear before the Court later today. The female was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Court in January.   

 

Other Arrests: 

  • One individual was arrested for Breach of the Peace.
