Arson

On July 25, 2023 at approximately 11:00 am, police and members of BFES responded to a report of a house and fence burning in the 200 block of Princess Ave.  Once the fire was extinguished, investigation revealed that a 38-year-old male, a former tenant of the residence, had intentionally ignited a propane tank, which caused an explosion and fire.  No one was injured because of the incident. 

The male had fled the scene prior to the arrival of emergency crews, but he was located and arrested on July 26, 2023 shortly after 6:00 am.  He was lodged at Brandon Police Service and will appear in court today on charges of Arson with Disregard for Human Life and Fail to comply with Undertaking.

 

Break and Enter to Residences

On July 26, 2023, at approximately 1:30 am police responded to a report of a male who entered a residence through an unlocked back door in the 700 block of 16th street.  The homeowner located the suspect in a sunroom and scared him away.  Nothing appeared to have been taken.

Shortly after the above report, police received a second report of a male suspect using a ladder to gain entry to a second story window at a residence in the 600 block of 23rd street.  The male left out the same window after he was encountered by the homeowner.  Nothing appeared to have been taken.

The description of the suspect was the same for both the above B&Es.  He was described as an Indigenous male, in his 20s, with short black hair and bad acne.

On July 26, 2023 shortly after 3:00 am, police responded to another Break and Enter to a residential garage in the 700 block of 15th street.  The suspect entered the garage through an overhead door, but was not observed.  Residents could hear noises as the suspect knocked over and rummaged through items.

Impaired Driving

On July 26, 2023 at approximately 1:30 am, police observed a motorist run a red light, which caused them to conduct a traffic stop in the 2700 block of Victoria Ave.  The 21-year-old male driver displayed signs of impairment and was arrested.  He provided samples of his breath that were more than the legal limit.  He was later released and will appear in court on August 3, 2023 on charges of Driving While Ability Impaired, and Driving with More than 80 mgs of Alcohol in Blood.

 

Theft Under $5000

On July 25, 2023, at approximately 5:30 pm, police responded to a report of theft of merchandise from a business in the 900 block of 19th street N.  Employees recognized the male as the same individual who had stolen merchandise in 4 previous incidents.  The male fled the business but employees were able to follow where he went on foot until police attended and arrested him.

The 27-year-old male was also found to be wanted on outstanding charges of Unlawfully in a Dwelling and Fail to Comply with Undertaking.  He was lodged and will appear today in court with additional charges of Theft Under $5000 X5.

 

Mischief Under $5000

On July 10, 2023, police received a report of damage to a vehicle.  The owner learned that another individual chained her vehicle in order to remove it from a parking stall in the 600 block of Rosser Ave, which the suspect felt he was entitled to.  While pulling the vehicle to another spot, minor damage occurred.  The 32-year-old male was located and arrested on July 25, 2023.  He was later released to appear in court on September 18, 2023 on charges of Mischief Under $5000.

 

Breach of the Peace

On July 25, 2023 shortly after 10:00 am, police responded to a report of a disturbance in the 000 block of 10th street.  One of the individuals involved was found to be highly intoxicated.  The 54-year-old male was arrested and lodged at Brandon Police Service until sober.

 

IPDA

On July 25, 2023, shortly before 8:00 pm, police responded to a report of an intoxicated female in the 300 block of 10th street.  The 23-year-old female was in no condition to care for herself.  She was lodged at Brandon Police Service until sober.

 

Arrest Warrants

On July 25, 2023, police located and arrested a 34-year-old male who was wanted on outstanding charges of Theft Under $5000 and Fail to Comply with Release Order.  He was lodged at Brandon Police Service and will appear in court today.

On July 25, 2023, police came across a female passed out in the 800 block of Rosser Ave. shortly before 3:00 pm.  The 25-year-old was found to be wanted on outstanding charges of Assault and Fail to Attend Court.  She was lodged at Brandon Police Service to appear in court today.
