Stolen Vehicle

At 7:30 a.m. Friday, police received a report of a stolen vehicle from the north hill area. The vehicle is a 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan, grey in colour, Manitoba license J42759.

Domestic Assault

At 6:30 a.m. Friday, police attended to a residence in the University area. A 26-year-old male from Brandon had assaulted his girlfriend at her home, when he shoved her during an argument. The suspect is currently on orders to have no communication with the victim or attend her residence, because of a previous assault he committed against her. The male was held in custody and will appear before a Justice today. He is charged with assault and three counts of breach of court order.

Retail Theft and Disturbance

At 5:30 p.m. Friday, police attended a business in the north end of the city where an intoxicated female was causing a disturbance. Officers found that the 28-year-old female had approximately $150 in stolen cosmetics from another retailer. Those items were returned to the other business, and the female was held in custody for release later today once sober. She faces a single charge of theft under $5,000 for the cosmetic theft.

Domestic Assault with a Weapon

At midnight Friday, police attended a residence in the area of the 700 block of 10th Street for a disturbance inside the home. The investigation revealed that a 20-year-old female from Brandon had armed herself with a steak knife and was threatening others within the residence. She assaulted her boyfriend by biting and striking him, and cut his hand while he was disarming her. The suspect remained in BPS cells overnight and will be released today on multiple conditions once she is sober. She is charged with assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon.

Impaired Care and Control

At 3 a.m. today, police attended to a business in the 3100 block of Victoria Avenue where an unconscious person was sitting in the driver’s seat of a running vehicle. The person was under the influence of alcohol and had passed out behind the wheel. A 33 year old female from Brandon was arrested and processed at BPS where she provided samples of her breath, that showed she was in excess of the legal allowable blood/alcohol concentration. She was held in custody, and will be released later today when sober. She will appear in court next week and faces a single charge of care and control of a motor vehicle while over 80 mg%.

Other Arrests

  • At 5:30 p.m. Friday, police attended to a downtown residence in response to a disturbance. A 21-year-old male from Brandon was intoxicated and fighting with other persons within the home. The male was held in BPS cells without charge, for release later today when sober.
  • At 7:50 p.m. Friday, police attended to the area of the 400 block of 9th Street in response to a person in medical distress. A 35-year-old Brandon resident was located on scene and found to be intoxicated. After medical clearance, police held the male in BPS cells for release later today when sober.
  • At 11:15 p.m. Friday, police attended to the area of 3rd Street and Richmond Avenue for a disturbance related call. A resident in the area reported the sounds of someone screaming. Police located a 41-year-old male from rural Manitoba who was intoxicated. Police detained the male in BPS cells for release later today when sober.
  • At 3:25 a.m. today, police arrested a male near the downtown area, as he was known to officers and outside of his home beyond his curfew hours. The suspect, a 28-year-old Brandon resident was intoxicated, also a violation of his current orders. The male was held in BPS cells and will appear before a Justice today. He is charged with two counts of breach of a release order.
  • At 5:30 a.m. today, police attended a disturbance at a residence in the University area. Officers arrested and removed three people, all members of the same family, as they were intoxicated and had been fighting each other. Police detained the three males, age 25, 30, and 31 years of age in BPS cells without charge, for release later today once sober.
