Possession of Meth for the Purpose of Trafficking
At approx. 7:25 PM Thursday evening, members of our Organized Crime Section apprehended a 40-year-old Winnipeg woman for possessing Meth for the purpose of trafficking. Officers observed the accused in the 1400 block of 4th St and attempted to arrest her. After a short foot pursuit she was apprehended and arrested on the strength of two warrants (one from Winnipeg and one from Selkirk). At the time of the arrest she was found in possession of 18 ounces of Methamphetamine, with a street value of just over $50000.00. The accused was held overnight and will appear in court this morning. She is charged with possession of Meth for trafficking as well as warrant charges of possession for trafficking and breach of recognizance.
Possession of Psilocybin
At approx. 9:27 PM, Thursday evening officers conducted a traffic stop in the 2900 block of Victoria Ave. The driver was ticketed for having open liquor in the vehicle and the passenger was ticketed for not wearing his seatbelt. The passenger was also found to be in possession of a small quantity of Psilocybin. The 28-year-old Brandon man has been charged for possession of the drug and will appear in court on Sept 10.
Impaired Driving
At approx. 10:25 PM, Thursday evening police were called regarding a suspected impaired driver. The vehicle was reportedly driving the wrong way on 26th St and had gone through two red lights. Officers located the vehicle at 18th St and Richmond Ave and observed the driver to be displaying obvious signs of impairment. The 26-year-old woman from Skownan, MB was arrested for impaired driving. She provided two samples of her breath, which resulted in reading of twice the legal limit. She was held overnight and released once sober.
Fail to Comply with Release order
At approx. 12:45 AM Friday morning, officers checked a 49-year-old male and a 23-year-old female at 34th St and Victoria. Both individuals were found to have court ordered curfews, which neither were following. Both subjects were arrested and later released with a court date of September 10 with a new charge of failing to comply with a release order.
Break Enter and Theft
At approx. 6:05 AM Thursday morning, officers were called to a business in the 3000 block of Victoria Ave East for a break and enter. The building was broken into through a window during the night and some cash was stolen from the office. This matter is still under investigation.
At 12:25 PM on Thursday afternoon, officers conducted a traffic stop in the 800 block of 18th St. The occupants of the vehicle, a 55-year-old male, of a rural Minnedosa address, and a 46-year-old Brandon male, were found to be in possession of 14 grams of Meth and $550 in cash. Both males were charged with possession of meth for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds of crime. The Minnedosa male wad released with an October 9 court date. The Brandon male was held in custody for court today as he is also on a court ordered recognizance.
Theft of Bike
At 2:30 PM Thursday afternoon, police received a call of a theft of his bicycle from the 400 block of Pacific Ave. At 4:50 PM a male matching a description of the bike thief was reported on 8th St. Members attended and located the 25 year old male who was in possession of the bike. The male admitted to stealing it earlier in the day. He was charged with theft under $5000, and released with a court date of September 3.
