Firearm Discharged – Suspects arrested

On August 11, 2021 at 1:42 am, police responded to several reports of shots fired in the area of 4th and Louise Ave. 

Investigation into the reports revealed that following an altercation between a group of individuals, one of the male’s involved discharged a handgun.  No one was injured and no property was damaged.

On August 11, 2021 at approximately 11:20 am, police located and arrested the 40-year-old male who was responsible for firing the weapon.  He was lodged at Brandon Police Service and will appear in court today on charges of Careless Use of Firearm, Possession of a Weapon, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Firearm knowing its Possession is Unauthorized, and Possession of Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order.  He did not have the handgun on him at the time of his arrest.

A second male involved in the disturbance was also located and arrested at 10:10 am, for Uttering Threats during the altercation.  Upon his arrest police discovered, he was in possession of Meth.  The 27-year-old male was later released to appear in court on December 13, 2021 on charges of Uttering Threats and on December 9, 2021 on charges of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Meth.

 

Stolen Vehicle

On August 11, 2021 at 11:00 pm, police responded to a report of the theft of a vehicle from the 700 block of Victoria Ave.  The driver had left the vehicle running as they were delivering food to a residence.  The vehicle is described as a black 4-door Honda Civic with Manitoba licence KRP629.  At the time of the theft, there was a Domino’s Pizza car topper in place.

Assault by Choking

On August 11, 2021, shortly after 10:00 pm, police responded to a report of an assault in a residence.  Investigation revealed that the 35-year-old male suspect assaulted the victim by striking, kicking and squeezing their throat with both hands.  The victim declined medical attention.  Upon his arrest, police located a folding knife on the suspect, contrary to his release order.  The suspect was lodged at Brandon Police Service and will appear in court today on charges of Assault by Choking, Assault, and Fail to Comply with Release Order.

 

Breach of Peace

On August 11, 2021, police responded to a report of a disturbance in a residence shortly before 10:00 pm.  A 23-year-old female was attempting to fight others in the residence and was no longer welcome.  She was arrested due to her intoxication level, and lodged at Brandon Police Service to prevent her behavior from escalating.

 

Fail to comply with Release Order

On August 12, 2021, shortly before 3:00 am, police located and arrested a 29-year-old male pedestrian who was to abide by a daily curfew.  He was later released to appear in court on September 23, 2021 on a charge of Fail to comply with Release Order.
