Theft of Vehicle – Recovered

At approx. 7:40 AM Wednesday police received a report of a vehicle that was stolen sometime overnight on Alaska Bay.  The 2008 Nissan Versa was taken from its parking spot.  At 8:25 PM, the vehicle was located in the back lane of Frederick St in the 300 block.  It was towed from the area, and the investigation is ongoing.   

 

Break, Enter and Assault

At 10:50 AM police were called to an address in the 200 block of 2nd St for an break and enter.  The female caller stated that a female suspect crawled through her living room window, went upstairs and started screaming at the caller’s daughter.  The suspect then assaulted the caller and fled prior to police arrival.  The suspect, who is known to police was located at her residence and arrested.  The 38 year old Brandon female is charged with break, enter and assault.  She will appear in court September 10th.

 

Stolen Vehicle

At approx. 11:22AM Wednesday, police were called to the 2500 block of McDonald Ave on a report of a theft of a vehicle.  The caller indicated that his white 2001 Dodge Dakota with Manitoba licence GLS 886 was stolen some time since Monday.  At 1:50 PM, the vehicle was located by police, in the 000 block of 26th St.  It was towed and the matter is still under investigation.

 

Fail to Comply with a Release Order

At 11:37 AM Wednesday an officer checked a male in the 500 block of Lorne Ave.  The male was known to the officer and was believed to be the subject of court ordered conditions of release.  The identity of the male was confirmed and a check of his conditions confirmed that he was bound by a condition that he not attend Brandon.  The 33-year-old male was arrested on June 7th for assault with a weapon and uttering threats to cause death.  At that time he was released with a court date and a release order.  On Wednesday, he was arrested again for breaching the releasing order.  He appeared in court on Wednesday afternoon, and was remanded into custody and transferred to the Winnipeg Remand Centre.

 

Possession of Meth for Trafficking

At 5:00 PM Wednesday, members conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle being driven by a local female known to them.  During the stop a passenger of the vehicle was observed to have drug paraphernalia in her possession.  A search resulted in the seizure of 7 grams of Meth and $870 in cash.  The 42-year-old Brandon female is charged with possession of meth or the purpose of trafficking and possession of the proceeds of crime.  She will appear in court on August 13th

 

Break and Enter

On April 9th 2020, police received a report from a business in the 1100 block o Rosser that had video of a suspect that appeared to be squatting in their property at night.  At the time of report, the suspect was not in the business but officers seized the video.  The video enabled officers to identify a 23-year-old Brandon female.  She was arrested on released with a court date of September 3rd, charged with break and enter.

 

Arrest Warrant Executed

 At 8:00 PM Wednesday police received a call of a male armed with a 2x4 chasing another male in the area of 1st St and Queens Ave.  Members attended and located just one male, who  was found to be the subject of a warrant of arrest for charges which include possession of stolen property, assault with a weapon, possession of weapon while prohibited, and unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon.  The 19-year-old male was also found to be bound by conditions no to consume alcohol, and not to attend to the city of Brandon.  He was arrested on the strength of the warrant as well as the two breaches of his release conditions.  He will appear in court later today.

 

Possession of a Weapon / Point Firearm / Uttering Threats

At 2:00 AM today, members were called to an apartment in the 1400 block of Rosser Ave for a male with a gun.  Upon arrival it was learned that a male, known to the caller had been at the apartment earlier and had consumed meth prior to leaving.  The male returned with a shotgun and as he began to load the gun he told the caller that he was going to kill him.  A struggle ensued during which the caller was able to get the gun away from the suspect. The suspect then fled the area in a vehicle.  Members on scene recovered the shotgun and a short time later, they located the suspect in his vehicle on Highway 10, south of Brandon.  The 37-year-old male from Dauphin was arrested and charged for possession of a weapon, possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose, pointing a firearm, and carless use of a firearm.  He was held at the Brandon Police Service and will appear in court this morning.    

 

Other Arrests:

  • 3 people were arrested and held under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act
  • 4 people were arrested and held for Breach of the Peace.
