Update: Fatal 2-Vehicle Motor Vehicle Collison

On November 1, 2022, at approximately 2:00 pm, police responded to a two-vehicle collision near the intersection of Victoria Ave E and Highway 110.

The investigation determined that a pickup truck (V1) was travelling east on Victoria Ave E and proceeded across HWY 110 when it was unsafe to do so, and collided with a pickup truck (V2) was traveling south on HWY 110.

Police have learned that the 89-year-old male driver and sole occupant of V1 has since died of his injuries.

Original release from November 2, 2022:

On November 1, 2022, police and members of Brandon Fire Emergency Services attended to a report of a two-vehicle collision near the intersection of Victoria Ave E. and Highway 110 at approximately 2:00 pm involving two pickup trucks.  One of the drivers, an 89-year-old male was transported to hospital with serious injuries.  The other driver, a 22-year-old male was uninjured.  Traffic analysts attended the scene to investigate.  Police continue to investigate.

 

Stolen Vehicle - Recovered

On November 9, 2022, police responded to a report of the theft of a black 2008 Chev Malibu.  Suspects stole the vehicle overnight from Canada Cres.

On November 10, 2022 shortly after 5:00 am, police located the stolen vehicle parked in the 300 block of 18th street N.  Four individuals were located and arrested near the vehicle and face a variety of charges.

A 26-year-old female was arrested and released to appear in court on a later date on charges of Possession of Property Obtained By Crime.

A 19-year-old female was arrested and lodged at Brandon Police Service and will appear in court today on charges of Fail to Comply with Undertaking X2.

A 27-year-old male was arrested and lodged at Brandon Police Service and will appear in court today on charges of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.

Assault Peace Officer

On November 9, 2022, at approximately 10:30 pm, police responded to a report of a female youth who had assaulted her caregiver, then damaged the inside of a vehicle before jumping out of it while she was being driven home.

The female proceeded to knock on various homes in the area of the 2000 block of Brandon Ave before she was located and arrested.  During her arrest, the 16-year-old female bit the officer. 

She was later released back to her caregivers and will appear in court on January 17, 2023 on charges of Assault Peace Officer, Mischief to Property and Assault.

 

Possess Weapon

On November 9, 2022 at approximately 7:30 pm, police responded to a report of suspects shooting a pellet gun at a residence in the 1200 block of 10th street. 

While police were investigating, a 29-year-old male continually interfered with the investigation.  Police attempted to arrest and detain the male however, he resisted.  Once he was in custody, police found he was in possession of bear mace.  He was later released to appear in court on December 29, 2022 on charges of Resist Arrest and Possess Weapon.

 

Theft Under $5000

On November 9, 2022, police responded to a report of the theft of merchandise from a business in the 1800 block of 18th street N at approximately 4:00 pm.  Security footage from the business assisted police in identifying the 56-year-old male who was later located and arrested.  He was released to appear in court on December 29, 2022 on a charge of Theft Under $5000.

 

Fail to Comply with Undertaking

On November 9, 2022, police responded to a report of a group of females fighting inside a business in the 1100 block of 18th street.  Police located the group a short distance away.  One of the females was found to be intoxicated in spite of a court order prohibiting her from consuming.  The 16-year-old female was arrested and later released to a sober adult.  She will appear in court on January 1, 2023 on a charge of Fail to Comply with Undertaking.

 

Break and Enter to Residential Shed

On November 9, 2022, police responded to a report of a break and enter to a shed in the 200 block of 1st street.  Suspects cut the lock overnight and once inside stole an assortment of tools.
