Impaired Driving
On Nov 9 2021 officers were called to a minor motor vehicle collision. One of the drivers, a 34 year old Brandon male was thought to be under the influence of a drug. At that time a blood demand was made for the driver to submit a blood sample, suitable for analysis to determine if he was under the influence. With the sample confirming the driver was in fact under the influence of a drug at the time of the collision, he was arrested on Dec 9 and will appear in court on Feb 13, 2023.
Arrest Warrant Executed
At approx. 9 AM Friday a 39 year old Brandon male attended to the police station to turn himself in for an outstanding warrant. The male had failed to attend court which resulted in the warrant being issued. The male has since been released from custody with a new court date of Feb 23 2023.
Vehicle Pedestrian Collison – update
In the Dec 9th release it was reported that officers had closed the Daly overpass (18th St bridge) for a single vehicle vs pedestrian collision. The incident occurred at approx. 6:20 AM Friday Dec 9, when a northbound vehicle struck a male on the roadway. The investigation has revealed that the 19 year old male intentionally put himself in the path of the northbound vehicle. The driver of the vehicle had no ability to avoid colliding with the male. The male was taken to hospital by ambulance, but sadly was pronounced dead a short time later. There are no charges being contemplated against the driver of the vehicle involved.
Assault with a Weapon
At approx. 6 PM Friday, officers were called to a residence in the 1100 block of 6th St for a disturbance. Upon arrival they found a 37 year old male and a 38 year old female that had been involved in a physical altercation. During the altercation the male hit the female and choked her and female grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed the male in the side. Both individuals were arrested and taken to hospital for medical clearance. The female has been charged with assault with a weapon and will appear in court on Feb 2 2023. The male was held in custody overnight and will be released with a court date of Feb 6, 2023.
Fail to Comply with Undertaking
At 12:30 AM today, officers checked a male in the area of 10th St and Pacific. The 44 year old male was found to be on a daily curfew which he was not following. He was arrested and has since been released with a Feb 11th court date.
