Impaired Driving

On July 7, 2022 at approximately 8:00 am, police conducted a traffic stop in the 100 block of Kirkham Cres.  The driver was found not to have a valid driver’s license.

Police observed a small baggie of cocaine in the vehicle and arrested the 28-year-old male driver and the 30-year-old male passenger.

The driver displayed signs of impairment by drug, and subsequently failed the evaluation by the Drug Recognition Expert.  He was lodged at Brandon Police Service and appeared in court yesterday on charges of Driving While Ability Impaired, CDSA Possession of Cocaine, and Fail to Comply with Release Order.

The passenger was later released to appear in court on September 8, 2022 on a charge of CDSA Possession of Cocaine. 

 

Theft Under $5000

On July 7, 2022 shortly before 11:00 am, police responded to a report of a male who stole merchandise from a business in the 900 block of 18th street N.  The male was observed by employees getting into a vehicle.  They were able to provide a description of the vehicle to police.

At approximately 11:00 am, police located and stopped the suspect vehicle in the 100 block of Pacific Ave. 

The 37-year-old male suspect was arrested and lodged at Brandon Police Service.  In addition to the theft, he was also found to be in possession of brass knuckles, contrary to an Undertaking not to possess any weapons.  He was also a disqualified driver.

He will appear in court today on charges of Theft Under $5000, Possess Prohibited Weapon, and Fail to Comply with Undertaking X3.  He will also receive Provincial fines for Unlawful Transport of Liquor in a Motor Vehicle, and Drive While Disqualified.

 

Assault

On July 7, 2022, police responded to a report of an assault at a business in the 800 block of Rosser Ave.

Investigation revealed that a 23-year-old male who had been previously barred from attending the business assaulted two employees by knocking one to the ground and kicking another.  He then attempted to take some of their personal working equipment before the employees managed to restrain him until police arrived.

Police arrested the suspect.  He will appear in court on September 1, 2022 on two counts of assault.  He also received a fine under the Petty Trespassing Act.

The employees did not require medical attention following the assaults.

 

Stolen Vehicle Recovered – Suspect Arrested

On July 7, 2022 shortly before 9:00 am, police conducted a traffic stop at 1st street and Rosser Ave.  The vehicle was confirmed to have been stolen out of Winnipeg on July 2, 2022.  The 41-year-old male driver from Brandon was arrested and later released to appear in court on September 12, 2022 on a charge of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.

 

Structure Fire

On July 8, 2022 at approximately 3:40 am, police and BFES responded to a report of a structure fire at a business in the 300 block of Pacific Ave.  Nobody was in the building at the time of the fire.  The cause is unknown, but it is not believed to be suspicious.

 

Breach of Peace

On July 7, 2022 shortly after 8:00 pm, police responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence.  Investigation revealed that a 31-year-old intoxicated male was the cause of the problems, and the others in the home could no longer prevent his actions from escalating.  He was arrested and lodged at Brandon Police Service until sober.

 

Arrest Warrants

On July 7, 2022, police located and arrested a 33-year-old male who was wanted on outstanding charges of Fail to comply with Release Order.  He was lodged at Brandon Police Service and will appear in court today.

On July 7, 2022, police located and arrested a 40-year-old male who was wanted on outstanding charges of Fail to Comply with Probation, Fail to Comply with Release Order and a DNA Warrant. He was lodged at Brandon Police Service and will appear in court today.

On July 7, 2022, a 19-year-old male attended Brandon Police Service, as he was aware of outstanding charges.  He was lodged and will appear this morning in court on charges of Possession of a Weapon, Mischief to Property and Fail to Comply with Probation.

On July 7, 2022, a 35-year old male attended Brandon Police Service, as he was aware of an outstanding warrant for his arrest for Fail to Appear.  He was later released to appear in court on August 4, 2022.

On July 7, 2022, police located and arrested a 24-year-old female who was wanted on outstanding charges of Fail to Comply with Probation.  She was lodged at Brandon Police Service and will appear in court today.
