Intimate Partner Stabbing

At 7:30 a.m. Saturday, police attended to the 1800 block of 1st Street for a reported stabbing. A 30 year old female from Brandon was arrested after stabbing her boyfriend in the lower leg during a dispute. The male also had wounds to his left hand. The victim was transported to BRHC for non-life threatening injuries, and will require surgery for the injuries to his hand. The female suspect was released later in the day from police custody on the condition she have no contact with the victim, and is to appear in Brandon Provincial Court in August. She faces a single charge of aggravated assault.

Theft from Shed

At 10:10 a.m. Saturday, an unlawful entry to a storage shed and theft of a mountain bike was reported to police. The entry and theft took place sometime overnight. Stolen from the shed was a 2012 Trek mountain bike, black with blue coloring, with a full suspension.

Other Arrests

  • During a traffic stop at noon Saturday on 1st Street N, it was discovered the operator of the vehicle was wanted by another Manitoba police agency on charges of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and failure to appear in court. The 40 year old male from Winnipeg was released on scene to appear in court in August.
  • At 7:40 p.m. Saturday, a 17 year old youth from Brandon was taken into custody for having contact and communication with a female he is currently on court conditions to have no communication with. The youth was held in BPS cells overnight and will appear before a Justice today, charged with failure to comply with a release order and disobeying a court order.
  • At 10:15 p.m. Saturday, police attended a domestic disturbance at an apartment in the 200 block of 5th Street. Neither party would disclose an assault on police arrival. Police removed a 29 year old intoxicated male from Brandon from the apartment. He was lodged in BPS cells and will be held overnight, for release without charge later today once sober.
  •  At 10:35 p.m. Saturday, a 27 year old Brandon male was arrested in the 900 block of Victoria Avenue. He was taken into custody on multiple warrants for his arrest held by BPS, and held in cells overnight to appear before a Justice today. He faces three charges of failure to appear in court, possession of stolen property, and failure to comply with probation.
  • At 1:20 a.m. today, a 34 year old male was located in the BPS parking lot highly intoxicated. He was found to be wanted on outstanding warrants held by both BPS and another Manitoba police agency. The male was held in BPS cells overnight, and will appear before a Justice today facing charges of assault, assault with a weapon, uttering threats to cause death or injury, and failure to appear in court.
  • At 3:30 a.m. today, officers attended a home in the 800 block of 19th Street for a family disturbance. A mother had called for assistance as her two daughters were intoxicated and fighting each other. One daughter fled the home prior to police arrival. Officers took the other female, a 16 year old into custody and held her in BPS cells overnight for release later today when sober.
