Homicide

At approx. 10:48 AM Friday, police were called to conduct a wellbeing check at an apartment in the 200 block of McDiarmid Drive.  Upon entry to the suite officers discovered a deceased 71 year old female.  The death appears to be as a result of trauma caused by an edged weapon.  During further inspection of the suite officers located a 44 year old male, who was detained for investigative means. Members of the Major Crime Section and Forensic Identification Unit were called to the scene to further the investigation.   The male has now been officially arrested for murder, and will appear for a bail hearing later today.  The victim and the accused are related to each other.

  

Arrest Warrant Executed

At approx. 10:45 AM officers were called to the courthouse for a 48 year old female who was there and was known to be the subject of an arrest warrant.  Officers attended and arrested the female on the strength of the warrant for charges including break and enter, mischief to property, and 2 counts of failing to comply with a release order.  She was held in custody and will appear in court this morning.

  

Arrest Warrant Executed

On Friday afternoon officers attended to an address in the 600 block of 15th in an attempt to locate a 50 year old female.  The female was the subject of a warrant for failing to comply with a conditional sentence order.  She was arrested at her residence and will be held for court later today.

 

Arrest Warrant Executed

At approx. 2:45 PM Friday, officers conducted a pedestrian check in the 900 block of Victoria Ave.  The 21 year old female was found to be wanted on the strength of a warrant of arrest for the charge of failing to comply with a probation order.  She was arrested and held for court this morning.

 

Break and Enter

At approx. 3:30 Friday, police were called to Sunridge Homes on 18th St north for a break in. The suspect(s) appear to have pried open the door of a show home, and may have spent the night in the home.  The matter is still under investigation.

 

Possession of a Weapon / Fail to Comply with Undertaking

At approx. 5:25 PM Friday, police were called to the Brandon Regional Health Centre for an intoxicated male causing problems.  Upon arrival the male was arrested initially for breach of the peace.  Upon search incident to arrest he was found to be in possession of a large knife.  Further checks revealed he is currently bound by an Undertaking with a condition that he not possess any weapons.  He was arrested for the weapon possession and failing to abide by his undertaking, and will be held for court in the morning.

 

Arrest Warrant Executed

At approx. 4:20 Friday afternoon, police were called to an apartment building in the 600 block of Pacific Ave for an unwanted intoxicated male.  The 22 year old male was located and found to be the subject of an outstanding warrant for assault peace officer, resist arrest and failing to attend court.  The male was held until sober at which time he was released for court at a later date.
