Child Abandonment

On August 28, 2021, police responded to a request to conduct a wellbeing check on a family with small children.  Officers located two children, a 1-year-old and a 2-year-old, in the residence alone. 

Witnesses report seeing adults leave the residence 5-6 hours prior to police arrival.  The children were placed into the care of Child and Family Services. 

The two adults responsible for the children were located and arrested on September 2, 2021.  The 36-year-old male and 26-year-old female were later released and will appear in court on October 14, 2021 on charges of Fail to Provide Necessaries X2, Child Abandonment X2, and Criminal Negligence X2.

 

Residential Fire

On September 2, 2021, police responded with members of BFES to a fire at a residence in the 500 block of 7th street shortly before 8:00 pm.  The fire is not believed to be suspicious, but caused by human carelessness.  There were no reported injuries.

 

Break and Enter to Residence – Suspect Arrested

On September 2, 2021, police responded to a report of a Break and Enter to a residence in the 100 block of 2nd street.  The suspect entered the front porch and stole personal items from the homeowners on August 30 and August 31. 

Security images assisted in identifying the 19-year-old female suspect who was located and arrested in the evening of September 2, 2021.  She was lodged at Brandon Police Service due to her intoxication level, and will be released once sober to appear in court on a later date.

 

Theft Under $5000

On September 2, 2021, police responded to a report of the theft of merchandise from a business in the 3400 block of Victoria Ave shortly before 3:00 pm.  Employees were unsuccessful in intervening in preventing the male from leaving, before he fled the business on foot. 

Security footage assisted police in identifying the male who was later located and arrested.  He was later released to appear in court on October 14, 2021 on charges of Theft Under $5000 and Assault.

Prohibited Driving

On September 2, 2021, police conducted a traffic stop in the 100 block of college Ave shortly after 2:00 pm.  Police learned that the driver of the vehicle was prohibited.  The 35-year-old male was arrested and later released to appear in court on November 25, 2021.

 

Arrest Warrant

On September 2, 2021, police located and arrested a 32-year-old male who was wanted on outstanding charges of Fail to Comply with Probation.  He was lodged at Brandon Police Service and will appear in court today.

On September 2, 2021, police located and arrested a 48-year-old male who was wanted on outstanding charges of Fail to Comply with Undertaking.  He was later released to appear in court on November 24, 2021.

On September 2, 2021, police located and arrested a 16-year-old female who was wanted on outstanding charges of Fail to Comply with Sentence.  She was later released to appear in court on November 9, 2021.
