Theft under $5000

At approx. 2:45 PM Sunday officers were called to a retail outlet in the 900 block of Victoria Ave for two males that had been seen filling a basket with assorted merchandise and then leaving.  The two males were located in the 400 block of 9th St, still in possession of the stolen goods. The officers arrested the 43 yr old and 32 year old males, both well known to police, for theft under $5000.  They have been released from custody with a court date of June 3.

Assault Peace Officer / Public Mischief

At approx. 11:20 PM Sunday police conducted a traffic stop with a taxi cab in the 1500 block of Victoria Ave.  A male passenger provided a false name to officers however once his identity was confirmed he was found to have a warrant for his arrest.  The 19 year old male was also found to be on a 24 hour curfew, which he was not following.  The male was taken to BRHC for medical clearance prior to lodging for court.  While there he attempted to head-butt one of the officers and he spit on the officer.  As a result he was charged with assault peace officer, public mischief, fail to comply with his release order and fail to comply with a probation order.  The male was held in custody for court later today

Arrest Warrant Executed

A second passenger of the taxi stopped on Victoria Ave was also found to be the subject of an outstanding warrant of arrest.  The 16 year old male was wanted by the Dauphin RCMP for a charge of obstruct peace officer.  The male was arrested on the strength of the warrant and has since been released with a court date of June 4 in Dauphin.
