Attempted Armed Robbery – Suspect Arrested

On May 9, 2022 at approximately 8:50 pm, police responded to a report of a male who attempted to rob a business in the 100 block of Victoria Ave. E.

Investigation revealed that the suspect demanded drugs from the employees while armed with a handgun.  The suspect ended up leaving the business empty handed, and nobody was injured.

Police were nearby on an unrelated matter, and set up a perimeter in the area.

The suspect was located and arrested hiding in nearby bushes by 9:13 pm.

Police K-9 was used to search for the handgun, which was located and seized.

The 32-year-old male was lodged at Brandon Police Service and will appear in court today on charges of Attempted Armed Robbery, Resist Arrest, Carry a Concealed Weapon, Use Firearm during the Commission of Indictable Offence, and Possession of Restricted Firearm with Ammunition.

 

Theft Under $5000

On May 9, 2022 shortly after 8:00 pm, police responded to a report of an individual who was stealing merchandise from a business in the 500 block of 1st street.  An employees attempted to prevent the male from leaving, and he in turn threatened to stab them.  The suspect left the business and nobody was injured. 

Security footage from the business assisted police in identifying the male, who was located and arrested at approximately 12:30 am.  He was later released and will appear in court on July 25, 2022 on a charge of Theft Under $5000 and Uttering Threats.

 

Stolen Vehicle

On May 9, 2022, police responded to a report of the theft of a 2005 4-door red/maroon Chevrolet Optra from the 400 block of 8th street.  The windshield is damaged and there are no licence plates

Break and Enters

On May 9, 2022, police responded to a report of a break and enter to a residential shed in the 700 block of 41st street.  Suspects gained entry overnight through a window and stole a grey and green Giant Mountain bike.

On May 9, 2022, police responded to a report of a break and enter to a residential shed in the 3400 block of Willowdale Cres.  Suspects are believed to have cut the lock to the shed after 4:00 am.  One inside they stole a bike carrier.

On May 9, 2022, police responded to a report of a Break and Enter to a business in the 400 block of Victoria Ave. E.  Suspects forced their way into a storage unit and stole a Fender Super Twin Reverb guitar amp.  The B&E possibly occurred on May 7.

Disobey Court Order

On May 6, 2022, police received information that a 17-year-old male was in breach of a court order by communicating with an individual named on the order.  On May 9, 2022, he was located and served an appearance notice to appear in court on July 5, 2022 on a charge of Disobey Court Order.

 

Breach of Peace

On May 9, 2022 shortly before 11:00 pm, police responded to a report of a male outside a business in the 1200 block of 18th street, who was behaving aggressively while under the influence of illicit drugs.  When police arrived, the 30-year-old male crawled onto the hood of a police cruiser and refused to come off it.  He was arrested and lodged at Brandon Police Service and will be released once sober.

 

Breach of Peace

On May 9, 2022, at approximately 3:00 pm, police responded to a report of three intoxicated individuals at a business in the 700 block of 10th street.  They were fighting and causing a disturbance.  Police arrested the 21-year-old female, 18-year-old female and 13-year-old females to prevent the situation from continuing.  They were lodged at Brandon Police Service until sober.

On May 9, 2022 at approximately 6:30 am, police responded to a report of an intoxicated male in the 100 block of McTavish Ave E.  The 49-year-old male was in no condition to care for himself.  He was lodged at Brandon Police Service until sober.

On May 9, 2022 shortly after 11:00 am, police responded to a report of an intoxicated female walking into traffic in the area of the 3200 block of Victoria Ave.  The 20-year-old female was in no condition to care for herself, and there was no one to turn her over to.  She was lodged at Brandon Police Service until sober.

On May 9, 2022 shortly before 2:00 pm, police responded to a report of an intoxicated female in a business in the 700 block of 10th street.  The 18-year-old female was in no condition to care for herself, and there was nobody else to care for her.  She was lodged at Brandon Police Service until sober.

 

Arrest Warrants

On May 9, 2022, a 34-year-old male attended to the Provincial Courthouse where he was arrested, as he was wanted on outstanding charges of Fail to Comply with Release Order X3, Possess Controlled Substance and Possess Prohibited Weapon.  He was later released to appear in court on July 4, 2022.

On May 9, 2022, a 34-year-old male attended to Brandon Police Service as he was wanted on numerous outstanding charges.  He was lodged and will appear in court today.
