Tuesday February 9, 2021 is Safer Internet Day.
Over the last year, Brandon Police Service has received dozens of reports and complaints regarding threats, blackmail, intimidation or the sharing of intimate images online. Victims of these crimes are from all demographics, but our youth and children are particularly vulnerable.
The Canadian Centre for Child Protection has provided a series of online information and videos to educate parents and youth in the area of online safety. For your convenience, we have provided the links below.
An important piece of this information addresses sextortion. What is sextortion, how does it happen, and how to prevent it. This information is also relative to adults, as many of the victims Brandon Police Service hear from are over 18-years-old.
