WHY ARE YOU RUNNING FOR SCHOOL TRUSTEE?
I have lived in Ward 2 for 24 years and have 2 children who have both attended school in the Brandon School Division. They began at O'Kelly, moved to New Era, then Harrison and finally Neelin.
They received a base education that laid a great foundation for lifelong learning and both have gone on to complete degrees at Brandon University. My son has employment in environmental science and my daughter is completing her final year in law in Ottawa.
I believe all children, the decision and policy makers of the future, deserve and require an education that teaches them to think critically, connect and work with others and one that prepares them to contribute to their communities and society as a whole.
Supporting children to develop and flourish takes a lot of energy and commitment from many people working in the school division and the community. I also believe it takes people who are willing to listen to the Educators when they share the challenges they face in the schools.
I know there are challenges now and moving forward and I am willing to explore options of support that may be new to me.
It would be a privilege to serve in the Brandon School Division.
