WHY ARE YOU RUNNING FOR SCHOOL TRUSTEE?
I am running for School trustee because of my devotion to my community. The education of our children is and should be of the upmost importance. There is no greater tool or power than that of a great education. We need to also ensure that our teachers and support staff also have every tool possible so they can work at their very best doing what they do best.
In recent times, we've faced challenges from a small but vocal group targeting issues related to 2SLGBTQ+ rights, diversity, and representation. Make no mistake; I stand firmly and strongly as a fighting ally. But while these are crucial matters being a School Trustee means addressing a broad spectrum of concerns. From ensuring access to quality education for all students and programming that fits the need of the unique needs of all our students to maintaining adequate infrastructure and resources. School trustees also bear the responsibility of being accountable to our community, making our role diverse and multifaceted, spanning a wide range of vital areas.
I bring to the table many years working on boards of the most prevalent would be my time sitting on the Board for the United Way Brandon and District, where I sat on the community impact committee as while as the financial committee.
I believe the position of School Trustee is that of being selected to be part of great team. A team selected by the people living in Brandon to be their voice at the local level but as while as to be their voice to the provincial government. I am ready to be part of this great team and put in the HARD WORK that is necessary.
