WHY ARE YOU RUNNING FOR SCHOOL TRUSTEE?   

I was born and raised in Brandon attending and graduating from the Brandon School Division. My husband Brent and my adult children also attended and graduated from the BSD as well. I believe I have a lot of knowledge from being a former student and parent to help make sound decisions. I also believe that the current board is not a diverse representation of our community and I think that needs to change, so that's why I am running. 

My beliefs are...

• I strongly believe in parental rights - parents should have a say in their children’s education.
• I feel that student counseling should be more prevalent as schools need to be a safe place for everyone.
• I will advocate for more support for teachers.
• I think we should improve the accessibility to supports for children with learning disabilities.
• In my opinion, more dollars should be spent in the classroom.
• I will lobby for school maintenance upgrades.
• I support students getting into the trades as there is a shortage of skilled workers.
• I would advocate for more schools as our city continues to grow.
• It’s important to ensure tax dollars are spent wisely - avoiding tax increases.
