The City of Brandon is currently seeking interested citizens in volunteering to assist in various capacities at the Youth Activity Centres and the UCT Summer Fun Club. The Youth Activity Centres are in operation during the summer months of July and August and are located in the East and West sides of the City.

 

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the supervision and organization of numerous sporting events
  • Assist in the supervision and organization of cooking and kitchen activities
  • Assist in the supervision and organization of crafts and artistic activities
  • Assist in the supervision and organization of games and dances
  • Any other assistance in supervision or organization that is required

 

Experience and Skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Enthusiastic about working with youth
  • Energetic and good patience in dealing with youth
  • Planning, organizing and project coordination skills
  • Independent and able to work with limited supervision
  • Able to follow safety precautions when on site
  • Able to follow direction and policies at all times

 

Volunteer Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Required Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check
  • Must have own method of transportation
  • Must be able to volunteer three to five hours per week
  • Must have Canadian citizenship or landed immigrant status
  • Report to all scheduled shifts and meetings in a punctual and professional manner
  • Notify the Coordinator in advance if unable to attend shift

 

Supervision

  • All volunteers will be responsible to City of Brandon Parks & Recreation Services
  • Some supervision may be provided by City of Brandon staff
  • Volunteers may be asked to cooperate in an annual review and assessment of the Volunteer Development Program and their overall experience volunteering with the City of Brandon
