Councillor Garth Rice

Although he has been elected to numerous positions within the Operating Engineers Union over the past 30 years, this is Councillor Rice's first true political experience. He is currently serving his third term in office.

Councillor Rice was born in Brandon and graduated from Crocus Plains High School. He is now an Operating Engineer. He is married to Gail, who works as an R.N. at BRHC. They have two children; Landon, who at 24 has graduated from the University of Manitoba and has signed a pro football contract with the Hamilton Tiger Cats, and Lauren, who is 20 and attends Brandon University.

• Taxi Appeal Committee

Councillor Rice feels that the environment, affordable housing, community safety and responsible spending are important issues for Council. In the future, Councillor Rice would like to see a safe, healthy environment one of prosperity that will encourage and allow participation of everyone.
