City of Brandon Confirms 92% Of All City Employees Are Fully Vaccinated

November 25, 2021

Brandon, MB – With a workforce of just over 600 employees, the City of Brandon is reporting that 99% of its employees have voluntarily disclosed their vaccination status. As of November 23rd, 2021, 92% have identified as being fully vaccinated.

On November 1st, 2021, the City implemented a mandatory vaccination or testing policy for employees who have direct and ongoing or prolonged contact with vulnerable populations. There are currently less than 20 employees completing regular COVID-19 testing, producing a negative result every 48hrs prior to entering the workplace.

The 92-percentage identified as being fully vaccinated does not include elected officials. On October 7th, 2021, the City of Brandon Mayor and Council announced that every elected official was fully vaccinated.

As of November 23rd, 2021, the Government of Manitoba COVID-19 vaccine website reported that Brandon’s vaccine uptake was 86.3%. The City of Brandon will continue to encourage those who are not yet vaccinated to seek professional medical advice, and if advisable, to initiate their vaccination process as soon as possible.

“I am not surprised that most of our staff have been vaccinated,” notes City Manager Ron Bowles. “Keeping the public safe, as well as our fellow employees, has been a top priority across our organization.”
