After more than two years spent consulting with the business community, residents and other stakeholders, the City of Brandon Council adopted a Development Charges By-law to assist in funding the infrastructure required for Brandon's future growth. Details of the by-law include:
- Development charge rates, included in Schedule B of the By-law, are updated annually in accordance with Statistic Canada’s Consumer Price Index (Manitoba)
- Current rates are referenced in the annual City of Brandon Fee Schedule By-law
- The rates differ based on the type of use and where the development occurs
- Building permit submissions in areas with previously executed development agreements are exempt from the development charges by-law until January 1, 2022
