Brandon Police Service Media Release for the Past 24 Hours.

 

Domestic Assault:

On Saturday morning, Police responded to a residence in the 700 Block of 6th ST after receiving a 911 call of a female calling for help. Police investigation revealed that the female victim was assaulted by her boyfriend. The assault consisted of the suspect punching the victim in the face causing bruising and swelling. The victim did not require medical treatment. The boyfriend, a 25 year old male was located within the residence. He was arrested and later released from Police custody scheduled to appear in Court in November.

 

 Assault Peace Officer, Utter Threats:

On Saturday afternoon, staff from the Brandon Correctional Center contacted Police reporting that an employee was assaulted by an inmate. Police investigation revealed that the suspect was being aggressive with staff when he bit the victim on the arm and uttered threats to cause further bodily harm to the victim. The victim attended the hospital and received medical treatment for the injury. The 20 year old male suspect was arrested and is scheduled to appear in Court on Sunday.  

 

Arrest Warrants Executed:

  • On Saturday afternoon, Police responded to a disturbance at a residence on Princess Avenue. Police located a female with young children in the residence and a male suspect was located hiding in a closet. A criminal record check of the suspect found that he had an outstanding Warrant of Arrest for failing to attend Court, Assault and Breach of Release Order. The criminal record check also found that the suspect is bound by conditions of a Release Order to not have any contact with the female and not to attend the City Of Brandon. The 28 year old male suspect was arrested and lodged at the Police Service, he is scheduled to appear in Court on Sunday.
  • Police arrested a 24 year old female on Saturday evening after responding to a disturbance at a residence. A criminal record check of the female discovered she had an outstanding Warrant of Arrest for Assault, Breach of Undertaking and Failing to Attend Court. The female suspect was released and is scheduled to appear in Court in November.
  • On Saturday night, Police located and arrested a 43 year old female who had an outstanding Warrant of Arrest for Theft of Motor Vehicle, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and Failing to Attend Court. The suspect was released to attend Court in November.

 

Theft Under $5000:

On Saturday evening, an employee of a business in the Corral Center reported a female with a shopping cart full of stolen clothing in the parking lot area. Police attended and located the highly intoxicated suspect with the clothing. The 28 year old female suspect was arrested and lodged at the Police Service. She is scheduled to be released when sober, to attend Court in November.   

 

Residential Break and Enter:

At approximately 2:00 A.M., a resident in the 100 Block of 3rd ST reported being awakened and observing an unknown male in the house. The caller further reported that the suspect left the residence out the back door. A number of Police officers including the K-9 unit attended, however the suspect was not located. The resident did not receive any physical injuries and Police continue to investigate.

 

Impaired Driving, Refuse to Provide Sample:

At approximately 3:30 A.M., Police observed a vehicle swerving on the roadway and driving with no lights on. The vehicle was stopped in the 100 Block of Park Avenue and the driver showed signs of impairment. The 40 year old male suspect was arrested for Impaired Driving and transported to the Police Service where he refused to provide samples of his breath. The suspect was released to attend Court in October.

 

Other Arrests: 

  • A 23 year old man was taken into Police custody after being located lying on the median on 18th ST North. The intoxicated male became belligerent and uncooperative. He was arrested for Breach of the Peace, lodged at the Police Service and will be released once sober.
