Garage Break, Enter & Theft:

On Saturday afternoon, a resident from the 100 block 16th Street reported that the unlocked garage on their property had been entered during the afternoon of May 29th and an electric bicycle stolen. Bike is described as a 2019 Townie Electra, frame appears green in color; brown handlebars, seats, and tires; rack on back; headlamp; step-through frame. 

 

Stolen Vehicles:

Late Saturday morning, a vehicle dealership located in the 400 block 18th Street North reported the theft of a loaner vehicle from their lot sometime during the previous week.  The vehicle is described as a 2010 Chevrolet Malibu, 4 door, brown / beige in color.  The vehicle does not have an assigned license plate. 

Early Saturday afternoon, a resident reported having lent her vehicle to an acquaintance before midnight on Friday night, and he had apparently absconded with it.  The vehicle was being reported as stolen and is described as 2018 Hyundai Sonata, 4 door, red in color, Manitoba license plate HSE 231.

 

Breach of Court Order:

At 2:07 PM Saturday, a male resident in the 300 block 11th Street reported that a female just walked in to his residence, and she was not supposed to be there because of a previous incident.  A records query confirmed that the 21 year-old suspect was on a court order directing she not to attend the premise.  The accused was located still in the residence, arrested for failing to comply with an Undertaking, and released at scene with a court date of August 15th.

At around 10:35 PM Saturday night, a traffic stop was conducted in the 800 block 10th Street.  A 28 year-old male passenger was found to be bound by a release Order that contains an absolute curfew to a Long Pains FN address.  He was arrested for failing to comply with the order, and will appear before the court this morning.

 

Stolen Vehicle Recovered:

At 4:45 PM Saturday, a suspicious vehicle, parked at the intersection of Braecrest Dr. and Buffalo Way, was reported.  The truck displayed an ON license plate, which had no information associated to it.  A query of the VIN confirmed that it was stolen out of Altona, reported June 4th.  The truck was towed back to BPS for a forensic examination.

 

Bike Thief Arrested:

At approx. 6:05 PM Saturday, staff from Canadian Tire called, reporting a male had just stolen a BMX style bike from the store.  Staff followed him to the area of the 1000 block 12th Street where police located the accused and arrested him for theft. He was also found to be responsible for a theft of a bike from Sport-Check, which was captured on video.  A records query revealed an outstanding Selkirk RCMP warrant for the charges of assault with a weapon, uttering threats, and failing to comply with probation.  The 40 year-old accused is held in custody and will appear in court this morning.

 

Weapons Calls:

At approx. 7:15 PM Saturday, security at the Summer Fair called stating that a male, who was found in possession of a machete, had been bear-sprayed by another unknown male.  Officers attended and arrested the 15 year-old accused, who had the machete concealed in his pants.  The suspect with the bear spray fled the fairground prior to police arrival, and has not been located.  The victim / accused refused to provide the name of his attacker to police, and he was subsequently released from custody, on appropriate police imposed conditions. He is scheduled to appear in court on July 19th, charged with possession of a weapon, and carrying a concealed weapon.

Police were called to the Summer Fair at approx. 9:20 PM for a male, that security had apprehended, after he flashed a handgun in his waistband. Upon police arrival, the male was being detained on the ground by security. A replica Glock 19 BB gun was recovered from his waistband.  The 17 year-old accused remains in police custody and will appear before the court today facing a breach of probation and weapons related charges.

 

Impaired Driver:

At 12:25 AM Sunday morning, a traffic stop in the 500 block laneway between 13th and 14th Street was made.  The 40 year-old male driver displayed obvious signs of impairment and was arrested.  He was returned to BPS, where he provided two samples of his breath with BAC readings more than three times the legal limit.  He was held in custody until he sobered up some, and is to appear in court on June 27th
