Break & Enter, Theft Of Vehicle & Possession of Stolen Property

On December 25, at approx. 8:30 am, police received a report of a Break, Enter & Theft to a business on Middleton Ave that occurring earlier that morning. The suspects drove a vehicle through the gate to gain entry to the compound. Once inside they stole tools from several vehicles. Later that morning, an employee of an oilfield company from Virden reported a possible stolen vehicle. He was following a company truck, eastbound on College Ave. The driver was not an employee. The driver then got out of the vehicle and ran off on foot going through yards, in the 700 blk 12th St. He removed some outer clothing before entering a garage of a house in the 700 blk 12th St. The suspect, a 40 year old male with no fixed address, stole a jacket out of the garage and left walking down the back lane. He was seen by police and recognized as the suspect. He was arrested. Further investigation determined he was the suspect from the Break & Enter on Middleton and it was confirmed, the vehicle he had been driving was stolen. He was lodged to appear in the morning on charges of Break, Enter and Theft, Possession of Stolen Property and Operate a Conveyance while Prohibited.

Stabbing

On December 25, at approx. 8:45 pm, police received a report of a stabbing on Willowdale Cr. The victim, a 39 year old male from Brandon, had suffered a single stab wound to his lower abdomen. He was transported to BRHC and was treated there.

The victim and another person were outside having a smoke when a male and female came walking up and asked them for a smoke. The male and female were invited inside the residence.

The suspect and the victim were in the kitchen when the suspect demand the victim give him everything. When the victim refused, he was stabbed. A struggle ensued when the witness grabbed a chair to get in between the victim and the suspect. The female attacked the witness while he was defending the stabbing victim. The suspects then left, stealing a pink Samsung cell phone and battery charging case. Police attended and the Police Service Dog(PSDU) was called out to track the suspects. The PSDU tracked the female suspect to a business on Brandon Ave. She was arrested and the stolen cell phone was found on her. The 21 year old female was lodged to appear in the morning on charges of Possession of Stolen Property, Possession of a Weapon, Robbery with Violence, Aggravated Assault with a Weapon.

The male suspect was identified by the victims. Attempts were made to located him but were not successful. A warrant will be requested for the 25 year old male suspect, on charges of Robbery with Violence, Aggravated Assault with a Weapon, Fail to Comply with a Release Order.

Other Arrests

On December 26 at approx. 1:00 am police received a report that an intoxicated female was running around in trraffic, on #1 Hwy and by a nearby Motel. Police attended and located the 19 year old female from Brandon. She was belligerent and confrontational, and attempted to assault police while she was being escorted out. She was arrested, cleared medically and lodged for the night.
