Brandon Police Service Media Release for the Past 24 Hours.

 

Impaired Driving Arrests:

At approximately 4:15 A.M. Sunday morning, Police conducted a traffic stop in the 400 Block of 12th Street. The male driver of the vehicle displayed signs of impairment by alcohol. He was arrested and transported to the Police Service where breath samples obtained were in excess of double the legal limit. The 27-year-old man from Brandon was arrested for Drive While Ability Impaired and Driving with More than 80 milligrams of alcohol in blood. He was lodged at the Brandon Police Service and is scheduled to be released when sober to attend Court in June.   

 

Possession of Bear Spray:

 At approximately 6:45 P.M. Saturday evening, Police attended to the 500 Block 6th Street after receiving a report that someone had been sprayed with bear mace. A victim was not located however; a patrol of the area located two suspects. A 21-year-old man from Winnipeg was taken into custody and a search of this individual recovered a can of bear spray, a small amount of Methamphetamine and break-in instruments. The man was also in possession of a bicycle that was discovered to be stolen. This man was arrested for Possession of a Prohibited Weapon; Carry a Concealed Weapon, Possession of Break-In Instruments, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and Failing to comply with a Release Order. He was lodged at the Brandon Police Service and is scheduled for a Court appearance later today. The other individual located is a 26-year-old man from Brandon. He was also found to be in possession of a can of Bear Spray and a Police record check found that he is bound by a Court Order prohibiting from possessing weapons. This man was arrested for Possession of a Prohibited Weapon and Disobeying a Weapon Prohibition Order. He was released from Police custody and is scheduled to appear in Court in July.

 

Police Pursuit Discontinued:

At approximately 2:30 A.M., Police attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a motorcycle in the area of 24th Street and McTavish Avenue. The operator of the motorcycle sped away refusing to stop. Police pursued the motorcycle to Victoria Avenue and then westbound on Victoria Avenue where it reached speeds of 130 km/h before leaving the city. Police continued to pursue the motorcycle on Highway #1A and due to poor visibility discontinued the pursuit efforts when the motorcycle turned westbound onto Highway #1. Police investigation continues.

 

Break and Enter to Garage:

On Saturday morning, Police received a report from a homeowner in the 1000 Block 7th Street that the garage was entered sometime overnight and four bicycles have been stolen. The stolen bicycles are described as a green GT BMX, a red and black colored mountain bike, an orange and white coloured mountain bike and a white, grey and black coloured mountain bike. Police investigation continues.

 

Other Arrests: 

  • A 36-year-old female and a 26-year-old male were arrested for Breach of the Peace. Both were lodged at the Brandon Police Service and are scheduled to be released when sober.
