Weapon Possession

At 12:10 p.m. Friday, police arrested a male in the 1100 block of 19th Street after a caller reported someone in that area carrying an axe. The 41 year old male from Brandon was found to be in possession of a pick axe as well as medication that did not belong to him, and was high on meth. The male will appear before a Justice today after being held overnight in BPS cells, charged with possession of a weapon, possession of stolen property, and failure to comply with a release order.

Domestic Assault

On Friday afternoon officers entered into an investigation after a female reported that her ex common law partner had assaulted her in Brandon on March 18 by punching her in the nose. Officers located the accused at his residence in Brandon and took him into custody. He was processed at BPS and release on an Undertaking to appear in Brandon Provincial Court in May, to answer to a charge of assault.

Other Arrests

  • At 1:35 p.m. Friday, police arrested a 34 year old male in the 1000 block of Van Horne Avenue on outstanding BPS warrant of arrest. The male was known to police and was known to be wanted. He will appear before a Justice today to answer to a charge of possession of stolen property.  
  • On Friday afternoon, an in custody inmate at the Brandon Correctional Centre was arrested for failure to comply with a release order. The 31 year old male had attempted to send correspondence out from the institution to a female he is currently on a court order to have no contact or communication with. That correspondence was intercepted by BCC staff. The male will appear before a Justice today and faces one count of failure to comply with a previous release order which he had entered into.
  • At 4:15 p.m. Friday, police arrested a 20 year old female in the area of Alaska Bay. She was intoxicated when located by officers and found to be the subject of outstanding BPS warrants. She was held in BPS cells and will appear before a Justice today on the outstanding charges. Those charges include assault causing bodily harm, assault by choking, and failure to appear in court. She faces an additional charge of failure to comply with a release order for being under the influence of alcohol.
  • At 10:00 p.m. Friday, officers were called to a report of a female screaming in the downtown area. Police located a 25 year old female in the 900 block of Rosser Avenue who was highly intoxicated. She was found to be wanted on an outstanding BPS warrant of arrest for assault. She was held in BPS cells overnight and will appear before a Justice today to answer to that charge.
