Brandon Police Service Media Release for the Past 24 Hours.

Aggravated Assault

At 317 pm, a 911 caller reported a man was being transported by friends to the hospital with a stab wound to his neck. Officers attended the hospital and located the victim who was suffer from a laceration to his neck.  The man told police he was at a residence in the 800 block of 16th St helping a friend pick up her child from the father who resides there.  After the child was in a vehicle, an argument started and the father ran back in the residence.  When the woman and his girlfriend went inside to check on him, he ran out the back door, to the front yard where he stabbed the victim in the neck with a steak knife.

The victim was treated at BRCH and was then transported to Winnipeg for further treatment of serious but non life-threatening injuries.  The male suspect was located at the residence and arrested for aggravated assault.  He was intoxicated at the time and was lodged at BPS to appear in court on Monday morning.

Assault with a Weapon

Around 5:00 pm on Sunday, staff at a hotel in the 200 block of 18th St N reported a man was in the hotel who appeared intoxicated by a drug who was refusing to leave.  The man assaulted a staff member by hitting him with a vacuum cleaner and then left the business. Officers attended and located the suspect in the area. He was arrested for Assault with a Weapon and lodged at the police service.  The suspect, a 21 year old from Dauphin, was released later to appear in court in August

Breach of Court Orders

A 17 year old female youth and a 22 year woman, both from Brandon were arrested after they were checked by police in the 900 block of McTavish Ave.  The female youth was breaching a curfew condition of an undertaking. The woman had a warrant in effect and was also breaching a curfew condition of a release order.  Both were lodged and will appear in court on Monday morning.
