Impaired Driving

At approx. 1:20 PM Saturday, Police received a call from someone northbound on Hwy #10 heading toward Brandon.  The caller indicated they were following a vehicle that they believed was being driven by an impaired driver. As the suspect vehicle entered Brandon, it rear-ended another vehicle at the intersection of 18th St and Maryland Ave.  Officers attended and observed obvious signs of impairment and arrested the driver.  The 35-year-old male from Hartney Manitoba provided samples of his breath, which resulted in reading of approx. 3 times the legal limit.  He has since been released from custody and will appear in court on Jan 20, 202, charged with impaired driving and drive over .08. Fortunately, no one was injured as a result of the collision.

 

Recovered Stolen vehicle

At approx. 2:30 PM Saturday, the owner of a 2009 Dodge Caravan, which had previously been reported stolen, called stating he had located in vehicle at 5th St and Louise Ave.  Officers attended and the vehicle was towed to the Police Service for processing by the Forensic Identification Section. The matter is still under investigation.

 

Possession of Stolen Property / Theft Under $5000

At approx. 4:50 PM Saturday officers stopped a 29-year-old male operating a 1999 Lexus RX 300 in the 800 block of Assiniboine Ave.  The vehicle had been recently reported stolen from Winnipeg.  Further investigation revealed the male had been responsible for a gas theft from a local gas station on 1st St North, in Brandon.  The vehicle was recovered and the male has been released to appear in court in January charged with possession of stolen property and theft.

 

Theft of Vehicle

At approx. 8:05 PM Saturday, the Brandon Police Service received a report of a theft of vehicle from the 000 block of 9th St. The vehicle is a 1999 Pontiac Sunfire with Manitoba licence KKF 432, red in colour.  At this time it has not been recovered.  If you observe this vehicle please contact your local police.

 

Impaired Driving

At approx. 9:40 PM Saturday officers observed a vehicle make an erratic turn onto Princess Ave from 18th St and proceed the wrong way on the one way street.   A traffic stop ws conducted and the officer noted signs of impairment.  The driver, a 23-year-old Brandon female was arrested for impaired driving and has provided samples of her breath with readings slightly in excess of the legal limit.   She has been released from custody and will appear in court on November 29 2021, charged with impaired driving and drive over .08.

 

Arrest Warrant Executed

At 12:40 AM today, officers attended to an address on Cornell Bay for a male who was intoxicated and causing problems. The 36-year-old male was found to be the subject of an outstanding warrant of arrest for failing to attend court.  He was arrested on the strength of the warrant, and held overnight at the Brandon Police Service.  He will be released from custody once sober with a court date of February 14, 2022.

 

Domestic Assault

At approx. 3:40 AM today, officers attended a residence in the 1500 block of Stickney Ave.  The victim reported having been assaulted by her common-law husband.   The 48-year-old male was arrested on scene for domestic assault.  He has been released with a court date of February 24 2022.
