Structure Fire

On February 17, 2022, at 8:14 am, police responded with BFES to a report of a structure fire near the intersection of Victoria Ave and E. Fotheringham Dr.  The building was a new four-story apartment building that was under construction.  There were no reported injuries.  The damage was a complete loss.  The cause is still under investigation, but it is not believed to be suspicious.  Traffic in the area was redirected until shortly after 11:00 am.

 

Mischief to Property

On February 17, 2022, police responded to a report of a female throwing merchandise inside a business in the 900 block of Victoria Ave shortly before 11:00 am.  By doing this, the female caused $3000-$5000 damage to the merchandise.  Police arrested the 23-year-old female, who was also to abide by conditions not to attend the business.  She was later released to appear in court on April 25, 2022 on charges of Mischief to Property and Fail to Comply with Undertaking.

 

Theft Under $5000

On February 17, 2022, police responded to a report of theft of merchandise from a business in the 1600 block of 18th street shortly before 1:00 pm.  Employees from the business stopped the 26-year-old male suspect, and held him until police arrived to arrest him.  He male was later released and will appear in court on May 2, 2022 on a charge of Theft Under $5000.

 

Utter Threats

On February 11, 2022, police responded to a report of a property owner being threatened by a tenant. The 46-year-old male suspect threatened to burn the victim’s property down with them in it.  On February 17, 2022, police arrested the suspect, and lodged him at Brandon Police Service.  He will appear in court today on charges of Utter Threats X 2.

 

Use Stolen Credit Card

On February 11, 2022, police received a report of a wallet being stolen from a victim while they were at a business.  The suspect later used a credit card from the wallet to make a purchase.  Security footage from the business where the suspect used the stolen card assisted police in identifying the 31-year-old female. The suspect was located and arrested on February 17, 2022.  She was later released to appear in court on April 14, 2022 on charges of Theft Under $5000 and Use Stolen Credit Card. 

 

Breach of Peace

On February 17, 2022 shortly before 10:00 pm, police responded to a report of a disturbance in a residence.  An intoxicated 21-year-old male was causing problems for other family in the home, and they were unable to prevent his actions from escalating.  He was lodged at Brandon Police Service until sober.
